some bloke rang, claiming to be from bt openreach, saying there was an issue with my phone line. i hadn’t noticed any faults or reported anything wrong. he asked if he could link a bt server to my laptop to check things out. i said that sounded risky and asked for his number so i could ring him later. he said he got why i was worried but insisted it was the only way to find the fault.

I got a voicemail saying I hadn’t paid my income tax and that there’s a warrant out for my arrest. It was just a recorded message.
