I’m getting constantly hounded by a debt collector about a tiny balance I owe Sky broadband, even though I’m already on a payment plan and just paid most of it off a couple of days ago. The calls keep coming, plus texts, emails and even silent voicemails. It’s driving me up the wall! They seem legit, but honestly, for a debt under £80, they’re way too persistent.

Picked up a call from this number and the person said they worked for a debt collection agency, trying to help businesses recover what’s owed. They sounded quite nice on the phone, but I wasn't friendly back since I already paid my phone bill.

So, C.A.R.S actually means CreditLink Account Recovery Solutions, which is a debt collection firm, not anything to do with cars or driving. It doesn't matter if you’ve got a licence or not. Basically, if you ignored a bill from a certain company, they’ve likely handed it off to C.A.R.S to chase you up for the money.

So, there's this company named C.A.R.S, and they’re debt collectors. They mostly deal with car insurance firms trying to get back unpaid insurance fees. Quite often they ring you up for this kind of thing.

When I asked who they were and who their client was, they said the name was C.A.R.S and kept saying they were acting for their client. I asked what their business was because I’d never heard of them and wasn’t keen on sharing personal info. She said she’d send some letters by post and then just hung up. Got calls from a debt collector called CARS claiming to act for the London Mint, but they seem to be faking a connection to the Royal Mint. Some debt collection agency for cars has been calling my mobile several times, even left an automated voicemail. I thought it was a scam so just ignored it. Then over the weekend I got a letter through the post saying they’re collecting on behalf of The London Mint Company. The letter said I had 10 days from the date on it to get in touch, but by the time I read it I only had 2 days left. I emailed them straight away and attached copies of all my proof of payments and returns to The London Mint Company, but haven’t heard anything back yet. Feels like I might’ve been scammed twice now.

Had a run-in with this debt collection lot called Cars, over some stuff the London Mint Office sent me that I never asked for, then started chasing payment for it. I ended up ringing Cars and giving them my bank info just to sort it out quick and stop the constant nagging.
