Got a call from a woman asking straight for our Managing Director by name, but he wasn’t actually in. She then wanted to speak to any other managers, but when I told her none were around, she asked if I was a manager. Before I could say anything, she just cut the call! The lady had a really strong Spanish accent and didn’t say which company she was calling from.

Wasn’t really paying attention to the name, and didn’t let them get a word in edgeways as I went on about the UK’s privacy rules and the TPS registry. They said they were ringing from Singapore, but that’s clearly fake caller ID. After trying for a bit with no luck, they just gave up and ended the call.

Got a call from a call centre, noise in the background was mad. The person barely spoke any English. I asked for the MD, was told he wasn't there, then they wanted to talk to someone else. Asked what’s it about and they just hung up. Just another time waster. Honestly, these calls need to be stopped and these rude folk held accountable. We all got our own work and can’t be dealing with this nonsense every day.

A guy with an accent rang up asking for my boss, but he wasn’t around. Then he wanted to talk to the tech manager, so I said nobody was in. I figured pretty fast it was a cold call. This woman, calling herself Wendy, was speaking really loudly like she was in a busy call centre. She asked for a manager, and when I tried to find out what it was about, she said something like "transport services" or "transfer services," so I just ended the call. She called me right back straight after and asked why I had hung up, then asked for a manager again. I put her on hold pretending to check with one, but by the time I came back, she’d already hung up.

Got caught out since it looked like a UK number at first. The moment a foreign accent asked me who I was, I knew something was up. A friendly-sounding woman claiming to be from ‘CMD’ started asking how long I’d been running my business, then quickly moved to whether I had a financial adviser, then switched topics again. By then, I’d had enough, said I had to go and ended the call. I don’t really blame the people making these calls, probably somewhere like the Philippines earning pennies per call, but the firms that sneakily get you to agree to share your info are the real culprits.

If he answered every call like that, he’d never get any work done. I told him the best time to call is between 1 and 2 in the afternoon when his hands are free and he’s not busy. I got a call from a lady with an Eastern European accent asking for the Director. When I explained I couldn't connect her, she just ended the call straight away. Bit strange if you ask me.

Got a call twice from a bloke with an Eastern European accent, once yesterday and again today. First time he was asking for the owner, I told him he wasn’t here and asked if I could assist, but he just said he needed to talk to the owner and hung up. When he rang back today, this time he used the owner’s last name. I said I was acting as the secretary and that the owner wasn’t available, offering to help instead, but he just abruptly ended the call. Felt pretty sketchy and rude, so I’d be careful with them and definitely avoid sharing any personal info.

Got a call from a bloke with an Eastern European accent asking straight away for the MD. When I asked what the call was about, he just kept pushing for the MD. I told him we don’t do cold calls and that we’re on the TPS list. Then he cheekily asked, “Do you speak to all your clients like this?” Didn’t fancy the attitude, so I just ended the call. What a cheeky sod!

Got a call from someone with an Eastern European accent. He wanted to talk to someone at my company, but I didn’t recognise the name he mentioned. I told him he must have dialled the wrong number. Then he asked me to confirm the company name and what we do, which I did. After that, he wanted to speak to the Managing Director - that made me suspicious instantly. I said the MD wasn’t in the office, then he tried to reach 'Sales'. I told him nobody was around but I could pass on a message. That’s when he just hung up on me!

Got a call from someone who just wanted to speak to our director but only used his first name. When I tried to get a last name or which department they were from, they suddenly got really rude and snapped that our director was waiting for them. Then, they just hung up when I asked again for the surname. Proper cheeky behaviour!

Had a bloke ring me up today, asking for me by name and saying I'm some company director or something. He spoke with a really thick eastern European accent. Every time they call, I just say I'm the cleaner and no one else is around to take a call - using a strong accent myself. This wasn't the first, he tried me yesterday too. Honestly, pretty stubborn guy!

Got a call from a woman speaking with a strong Eastern European accent. She was babbling on about asking some weird questions regarding my work background or something like that. I ended up slamming a bunch of keys to blast a loud, squeaky series of beeps at her for nearly half a minute. I reckon she hung up after that, 'cause I heard the call drop on her side.

Got a call from someone with an Eastern European accent wanting to talk to the manager of the business. They were trying to fish out some info, asking how long we've been open and what my role is. Felt really dodgy to me. I'd say scam chances about 676 out of 920, so pretty high alert.

Someone rang up looking for the manager, but as soon as I told them he wasn’t around, they just ended the call. Before hanging up, they tried getting me to connect them to a different manager, which I also said no to. Feels like it was some shady call centre.

I got a call asking to talk to the owner of the business listed. When I told them he wasn’t around, they wanted to chat with someone in sales or accounts. I told them I handled those roles as the business manager. After hearing that, they just said “oh, you’re the manager” and hung up. Honestly, I’d be careful with calls like this - it felt pretty dodgy and might be a scam.
