I got this automated call claiming to be BT, saying my phone would get cut off. I didn’t really listen to the whole thing. Weirdly, I received the exact same message on another number too.

Just got another one of those pre-recorded messages saying my BT internet will be cut off. I’m pretty sure BT are aware of these scam calls by now, they’ve been happening for ages. They ring loads of times a day from loads of different numbers. Some have UK area codes, but this particular one showed up as coming from Clacton-on-Sea, which I’m guessing must have some kind of registered info attached. Has BT said if they’re doing anything about it?

This call sounded just like the BT internet cut-off scam, beginning with “we are hereby to inform you,” but this time it was about me supposedly winning second prize in some Canadian lottery. They claimed I’d bagged half a million with ticket number 144122. To get the money, all I needed to do was get in touch with their accounts team on 0013478783922. Honestly, I’m not going to waste my time with it.
