That number just rang me up claiming they were from Manchester and said I’m owed a refund of £1,500 for a Halifax loan I never applied for. They even knew my landline and the right address, which was a bit creepy. They mentioned they’d post some documents through. Anyone else got this? What’s the point of this sort of scam?

I wouldn't even bother picking up, it's probably some overseas call centre. They keep telling you they can help you recover money on a loan you've already cleared. Total waste of time.

Back on 18 Feb 2016, some bloke rang asking for my mate, but his phone was diverted to me since he was away on holiday. It was clear pretty quickly it was a scam call, so my missus played along to stall him. After a bit, the caller rudely called her stupid, claiming he had proof my mate took a loan - totally made up! She got fed up eventually and just hung up.

I always let unknown numbers go straight to voicemail, so I don't usually pick up if I don't know who's calling. But after seeing this page, I decided to call this number back just to check it out. Got a recorded message saying "sorry, the number you have dialled is not in service." Feels a bit dodgy to me, matches up with what 'Irritsted' mentioned about calls being rerouted through another number. Seems like a scam to me.

Been getting loads of these PPI scam calls recently, they’re always from abroad but the number shows up like it’s from the UK so it slips past the TPS. They ring us about 5 to 7 times daily, even on weekends. Plus, there’s other calls with 'withheld' numbers that are either marketing nonsense or scams. Now I just don’t pick up the landline unless I’m expecting someone I know.

So, I rang my bank about it and they’ve already flagged it to their fraud team. They advised me to try recording the calls if they keep ringing. Not a problem really, since they keep calling me 3 or 4 times every day.

I’m well fed up with this number ringing me non-stop every day. Initially, I just let it go to voicemail, but the last couple of times I picked up because it was genuinely getting on my nerves. They keep asking for someone who doesn’t live at my place. When I try to ask who they are, they just stay silent. these clowns ring me every week with some different tale each time. today they claimed to be from the uk government’s ppi department and also the fsa in manchester. apparently, they can’t wipe anyone’s details if they’re due some cashback. they kept apologising but said they’d continue ringing until the payout is sorted. usually, they just cut me off, but i stood my ground this time and told them to shove it.

I get calls from these lot a couple of times every day, saying I have up to £2000 owed from some loan in 2009 - which I never took out! They tell me if I ring a specific number with some reference code they give me, I can claim the money. Yeah right! I told them to stop messing about and find a real job instead of trying to rip people off like that.

Someone rang saying I could claim about £1500 back in PPI from a loan I supposedly took out. I told them that’s not possible since I never actually paid off that loan - plus, I just got out of jail for fraud, so they weren’t getting much from me! They quickly ended the call after that.

Since we took ownership of our new home and were assigned this phone number by Sky, we've been getting persistent calls from a number looking for the previous owner. I reached out to Sky about this, but alas, they informed me that they're unable to provide us with a different number, as everything's apparently been allocated already, which means we may find ourselves in the same predicament again. Following their advice, we've registered with the Telephone Preference Service. When we informed this caller that we're not the individuals they’re after, they surprisingly tried to pry for our names... I don’t think so! The next time they rang, I mentioned our TPS registration, and the chap had the gall to respond, 'And?! What do you want me to do about it?' They’ve continued to ring, and some have even been quite rude. Without knowing the name of the company or any details, I’m at a dead end for reporting this to Ofcom! It’s absolutely unacceptable!
