Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise. Didn’t bother picking up and they didn’t leave any voicemail either. According to this site, it’s probably a scam.

SCAM ALERT. When I confronted them, they actually laughed and bragged about how well off they are, saying they’re not worried about the cost of living issues and recently got themselves a brand new Mercedes Benz, all because no one’s stopping them. 🤬 The Police told me to warn people by posting about this on social media and asking others to share, since if enough of us do it, more folks will know what scams to watch for. According to the Police, these scammers have ripped off hundreds of thousands of pounds just in the last month.

Got a call from someone saying they were from "UK Medical Alarms" based in North London, but the phone number they used had a Blackburn dialling code, which seemed odd. They quickly went on about a £30 monthly fee for a falls alarm pendant and response scheme. When I asked how they got my number, they just brushed it off saying it was from some sort of "UK survey of all citizens." Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from a Chinese lady asking for Mr ....... When I asked what it was about, she started reading from some script about me being old because I’m over 55 and paying my BT bill on time, so I supposedly qualify for a free emergency call button linked to my landline. There was a lot of background noise with other callers, all sounding Chinese. I kept her chatting for about three and a half minutes until she abruptly ended the call, but the line stayed open. So I left it ringing a bit more just to waste their time, then finally hung up. That number’s blocked now.

He got pretty annoyed and angry when I told him I knew he was trying to con me. When I mentioned I was registered with the TPS and that his call was against the law, he hung up straight away. I've blocked the number now.
