I got a call from a woman with a thick accent I could hardly get. She was talking about some marriage allowance thing and how much money I supposedly should get. Thing is, we’ve never qualified for that allowance, never have. She kept pushing to know why, but I just told her it wasn’t any of her beeswax and then ended the call. She rang me back, but I didn’t pick up. This is already the third time this month I’m getting calls like this.

Got a call on my landline soon after some woman with a strong foreign accent called me on my mobile. She just hung up right away.

Got a call from this number today and also from a mobile one. Looks like a couple of scammers trying to trick people with fake government rebate offers.

Got a dodgy call from a lady claiming there was some sort of technical issue. She actually knew my name! I hung up on her, but then she called me again from another number. Definitely a scam.

I got a dodgy call too from a mobile number 07513692280. Some woman named herself Shala Mitchell and was going on about me supposedly entitled to £1,250 from some Marriage Allowance thing plus £250 off my tax every year. When she saw I wasn’t biting, she told me to call Customer Service on 01254791671. Total bunch of nasty scammers, watch out!

Just got a call from some nasty lot trying to get personal info from my 88 year old dad. They already had some stuff like pension and National Insurance numbers, must have pinched it from somewhere dodgy. Stay far away, total scam!

I got a call from South Africa, and this woman was going on about some marriage allowance rebate I supposedly qualified for. I humoured her for about 10 minutes, but eventually told her I was losing interest. She ended up just hanging up on me.

I just got a call from 01254-791671 claiming I’m entitled to a refund on some marriage allowance. They then emailed me asking for my national insurance number. Sounds dodgy to me - is this some kind of scam?

This number kept ringing my elderly relatives who are well into their 80s and quite easy to confuse. Watch out, they ask for your NI number and even have a box you can tick that lets them get your personal and tax details. I looked up their office and it’s just a virtual address. The contact name they gave was Kevin Shaw. What worries me is the high fees they charge for stuff people can handle on their own. I’ve reported it to HMRC and also the UK scam website.

Received a message supposedly regarding a tax refund for marriage - they requested that I return their call for further information. Just to clarify, I didn't initiate any contact with them.

They kept going on about being from gov.com, said there’s some delay with payments and that they’re sorting out the marriage tax allowance stuff. Quite pushy about it all.

I have a strong suspicion that this might be a fraudulent operation.

I decided not to go any further with this lot after they called. Then they sent an email with a link asking for National Insurance numbers to supposedly get a marriage tax refund. We never even put in for anything like that and know we're not entitled to it. Feels like a dodgy scam to me.

Got a call from 01254 791671 claiming it was about Marriage Allowance and something to do with the tax office. They said I was owed £1250 but that can't be right because I pay my taxes overseas. Definitely a scam, so steer clear!
