I wonder what sort of scams this lot from India might try next. Since they're already in the UK, I’d say the Conservatives should act fast with the boat policies - maybe then they can catch these people and send them over to Rwanda. If they’re here illegally, they definitely shouldn’t be allowed to stay.

Don’t fall for it, they claimed to be Help Your Tax or HYT. Their website is rubbish and when I checked Companies House, it looked really dodgy. The director was only listed for a week! Stay clear of these lot!

The caller had a weird foreign accent and the line was terrible, full of crackles. They kept going on about PPI and HSBC or something. I immediately thought it was a scam cause the background noise was awful and the voice was so hard to make out. Ended up just hanging up, it was painful to listen to.

When I asked him where he was calling from (thought maybe some call centre in India), he said Manchester - odd since the number was showing Blackburn!!! Got a call from this number but missed it, so I rang back. There was a recorded message saying calls to "HYT" are recorded, then it cut off. Then the same number called me straight back, and a woman started going on about PPR repayment info. She had my name and address, but I never said a word; she just kept jabbering away. Got a call from a lady with a really thick accent, she was talking about some claim from an accident back in 2009 - problem is, I’ve never been in any accident at all. She mentioned something about getting between £500 and £1,000 back, but her accent was so strong and there was loads of noise in the background, I couldn’t make out what she was actually offering. Oddly enough, she did know my first name, which I found a bit strange.

They said they were handling PPI. They already knew I'd had a PPI claim sorted. Asked me how much I got but I couldn't recall. Then they wanted to know my yearly wage in 2019. I gave them the figure. They told me since it was taxed at 40%, I wasn't eligible for any extra tax relief from HMRC. That was it, the call ended.

The lady had quite a strong accent, seemed South African maybe, but she mentioned 'Anya' which made me think she might be based around Blackburn. I wonder if they use some kind of smart call forwarding though? She came across as really confident and knew our phone company straight away, but completely messed up by talking about a Marriage Tax Refund when we’ve never even tied the knot.
