Beware of this number! They claimed to be from TalkTalk and said there was an issue with my router. Then they tried to withdraw £2000 from my bank, saying I was owed a £200 refund. I noticed the money had left my account, but when I called them out on it, the cash was quickly put back. Just a heads up to everyone - watch out for scams like this!

A chap with a rather pronounced Indian accent rang me up claiming to be from TalkTalk. I requested some verification from him and he promptly reeled off my name, complete address, postcode, account number, and even how long I had been a customer. He then mentioned there was an issue with my router that their system had supposedly detected and instructed me to check it to confirm how many lights were lit up. This clearly reeked of a potential scam, so I told him I would ring him back. He attempted to provide me with a callback number, but I insisted on locating him myself and asked for his name to properly identify him. He replied with something that sounded like Alex Williams. Yeah, right! I promptly terminated the call and reached out to TalkTalk through their official hotline. They verified that it was indeed a scam and that they had not made any calls to me. I've gone ahead and blocked that number now.

If you come across any scam calls, make sure to report them straight to the ICO. Posting about it here won’t faze the scammers much, but the ICO definitely takes notice and it’s super quick to do on their website - takes just a couple of minutes. Don’t bother your phone provider though, they’re mostly interested in selling you caller ID and making more cash from blocking services rather than stopping the scammers.

Every time I answer, there’s just silence. Seems like one of those scams, probably set up by the phone providers to cash in. They want you to call back the number, tricking loads of people daily - must be hundreds of thousands. Meanwhile, the big bosses are just sitting pretty, counting their cash.

This landline number was given by the phone provider, so I guess someone is actually paying the bill for it. Honestly, I reckon a lot of these phone companies might be working with scammers, maybe even getting some kind of cut when someone gets tricked. It wouldn’t be that hard to put an end to it - just disconnect their phone line straight away. I also think TalkTalk’s top bosses are involved with these scammers, along with other senior people at various phone companies. With the tech available nowadays, it really should be possible to sort this problem out once and for all.

I've reported loads of phone numbers to the phone providers, but they never seem to do anything about it. It's clear they couldn't care less because at the end of the day, they’re all about cash. The companies just want to keep raking in the money, no matter what happens to the customers. Honestly, they could stop all this nonsense with just one simple click, but they just don’t bother. It’s all about the profit for them.

This number kept calling me loads of times, along with private and anonymous ones. One bloke claimed I was owed a £200 refund and was sorting it out straightaway! Then he suddenly said, "Oops, I entered £600 by mistake." He begged, "If you don’t send £400 via MoneyGram to fix it, I’ll lose my job." Yeah, as if I’m falling for that nonsense!!! Nope, not happening ever!!! Different voices kept ringing me back for hours on end. Hopefully TalkTalk have put a stop to it now.

This number kept ringing me loads, sometimes it showed as private or just no caller ID. One bloke claimed I was owed a £200 refund, then suddenly said, "Oops, I accidentally put £600 on your account." He started panicking about losing his job and begged me to send £400 via MoneyGram to fix it. Yeah, as if I was falling for that! They kept calling with different voices over the day. Hopefully TalkTalk have sorted it out and blocked these annoying calls by now.
