Got a call that claimed to be from the tax office, an automated voice talking about some kind of tax check and giving me a reference number. When the fancy sounding message finished with a ‘blessings’, I knew it was just a load of spam.

So I got this call from someone saying they were from BT, telling me my PC had a virus and my modem was apparently downloading viruses. I asked them who they were, and they said it was BT customer service. I told them I don’t have a computer or internet at all, and then the woman on the line just went silent and hung up. If you’re with BT, just ring 1572 afterwards and report it so they can block the number on your landline. Other providers might do things differently, so check with them if you’re not with BT.
