got a ring from some bloke with an Indian accent called Jack. he said it was about ppi and there was like £950 waiting for me. i told him ppi claims had to be done by 2019. he kept saying there’s still money for me. i told him no way am i giving out my info. he said he didn’t need my details. i asked then how was he planning to send me any cash? sounded like just another scammer trying to grab people’s bank info.

About 10 minutes ago, my missus got a call saying she'd supposedly won a PPI claim. They were really pushy when asking for her info. She tried to tell them just to send a cheque, but the bloke said they couldn’t do that because of ‘cover’. Proper scam artists if you ask me.

I received a curious call today from a woman of Asian descent, claiming that my PPI claim had been successfully processed, and I was owed more than £4000. She mentioned that a supervisor would ring me later with more details. Quite the con, if you ask me, especially since I’ve never lodged a PPI claim in my life! I swiftly told her not to bother me and ended the call. Just a heads-up for everyone out there - it’s definitely a scam. They’re fishing for your banking info, so don't be taken in!

Back in 2016, I got a call saying I was due almost £5000 from an aPPI claim - which I never actually made! They said the cash would be transferred into my bank in three working days, just wanted my sort code and account number. They claimed to work alongside financial regulators, so I thought it’d be safe to share my info. But in the end, I told them I’d prefer a cheque instead and hung up. They already had my name and address anyway!

So here’s what happened - apparently I was meant to be getting £3000, either a cheque or a payment straight into my bank account. No idea where they got my details from, probably some random list. Today, the 24th of September, just before 6pm, I got a call on my landline from this number, and the bloke on the other end had an Asian accent. He asked if I’d been in any car accidents in the past two years. I told him no and was about to hang up. I thanked him and said goodbye before ending the call. Looks like this might be some kind of new scam targeting this line!

So, there I was, and someone rang up asking about my dad. Naturally, I wanted to know who was on the other end, so I asked. They went on to provide his address and questioned if he still resided here. I pressed them for their reasons and they claimed to be from HMRC. Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from HMRC, said I was owed a refund and asked for my bank info. Just like the commenter before me, I got a call from a woman named Anisa Abley from India who said someone from the government would come by my place to drop off a cheque. She already knew my address and said all I had to do was show some photo ID. She mentioned she'd ring back the next day since we didn’t have enough time. She claimed to be from The Financial Ombudsman Service, which is supposedly government-backed. Honestly, I warned her straight away that I wouldn’t share any personal info with her. Still, I’m not buying it. Let’s see how this one pans out.
