Received a rather dodgy call, claiming to be from the fraud team at NationWide, trying to chat about a supposed transaction on my debit card linked to some mysterious gadget. It's clear as day this was a scam attempt. I don’t even hold an account with them!

Got a message saying there was a payment made on my debit card and to ring if I didn’t authorise it. Said it was from Nationwide fraud team. Thing is, I know the legit fraud number, so I could tell right away it was dodgy. The call seemed to come from Iran or somewhere, and a lady on the line started asking for my password. I called her out on how I knew she was lying, then she just hung up on me. A few mates at work had a laugh and kept calling back just to wind her up, and after a while, she stopped picking up.

I answered and there was complete silence, then the call just dropped out of nowhere.

I never actually asked for a Deliveroo order, so it's odd that they were ringing me up. Surely it can’t be from the real Deliveroo, especially since some folks are getting calls long after they’ve placed their orders. Plus, the call came from a London number, and I’m based just outside Edinburgh.
