I was quite annoyed to discover that 01253 822061 is linked to someone whose phone's been misused. I've gotten calls like this before but never from a local area code. Even though I suspected it was a scam, it still caught me off guard. Wish there was a better way to block these. I've tried using caller barring but it’s not always enough.

I got a call that said it was from British Telecom about my internet or phone. I tried ringing the fraud number but couldn’t get through at all. Ended up telling Citizens Advice about it instead.

Got a voicemail that sounded like it was from BT, saying my internet was gonna stop working today. Pretty sure it was a scam though.

there’s this scam going around where people get a call saying ‘press 1 for bt internet fault’, but it’s actually coming from a real local phone line. folks who get the call are trying to check if the number is legit and end up ringing back. we tried it ourselves and the poor person on the other end got blasted with like 20 calls in just 10 minutes. funny thing is, their internet isn’t even with bt!
