Watch out, total scam and really unsafe!

Got a call from a woman who said her name was Jane. She told me that my house might be eligible for a discount on solar panels. Felt a bit off, not sure if it’s legit or just another sales pitch.

I answer the phone to these blokes and shout at the top of my lungs, “Who’s ringing the GOLDEN SHOT? It’s Bobby!” They tend to vanish pretty quickly after that. Quite sketchy-best steer clear!

Got a call a bit ago and, daftly, I said yes when they asked if I could hear the person clearly, even though I’ve heard you shouldn’t agree to that. I was waiting for a pretty important call, so I thought it might be that. The lady spoke about solar energy stuff, tried to sell me panels or something. I told her I wasn’t interested. Now I’m a bit worried I might’ve fallen for some kind of trick.

I got a call on my home phone from this number yesterday, even though I’m on the TPS list. I just ignored it and no voicemail was left. Pretty obvious it’s some sort of scam.

I got a call from this number today, 23rd Jan 2024, from a very polite English lady who asked if I could hear her alright - sounds like a typical way they start the chat based on what others have said. She went on to say I was chosen as a good candidate for solar energy, which was odd since I already have solar panels installed. After that she thanked me, wished me a nice day, and then ended the call. We're registered on the TPS, so this unwanted call shouldn't have happened.

Got a call on our hardly ever used landline from a well-spoken woman saying she was with some "Solar Advisory Service" and offering a free assessment. As soon as I brought up the TPS, she hung up sharpish. Seems dodgy to me, like they’re trying to target older folks with scams about useless roof repairs or something. Definitely marking it as risky.

So I picked up, but there was nothing at first. Then they asked, “Can you hear me alright?” I just hung up. Feels like one of those dodgy scam calls trying to trick you into saying “yes” so they can use it against you or get into your accounts or something.

This number has rung me three times already today. The first two times, they hung up as soon as my answerphone kicked in. When I finally picked up the third call, a very pushy lady with a posh tone started pushing some kind of solar grant. I told her we weren’t interested but she just kept going on and on, so I had to just hang up on her.

Seeing the Blackpool area code made me think it might be family as I've got older relatives there. Lately, this number has been blowing up my phone non stop, and they clearly don’t care about the TPS rules. It’s gotta be a scam and totally illegal. Honestly, just hang up or block them, no use arguing with a machine on the other end. These robocalls are what let them ring millions of people at once, and why sometimes the line just cuts out. I’m guessing it’s some dodgy call centre abroad faking the number, but since it’s still going on, best to just block it. It’s shocking that Openreach hasn’t done more to stop this whole ‘spoofed number’ nonsense.

The TPS list only blocks genuine sales and marketing calls, it doesn't cover other genuine businesses or groups. It definitely doesn’t help when it comes to scammers. If you really want to fight back, you’ve got to report scam calls and info as much as you can, overwhelm the reporting system even, that’s the only way to try and get these scams stopped.

Upon inquiring about the source of their information, I was met with silence. They purport to be situated in Dorset, yet the area code corresponds to Blackpool. They’re attempting to enroll individuals in some sort of telephone medical alert programme, insisting they are medical personnel. My initial conversation was with a lady who requested I hang on for a moment as she "loaded up" her screen, but then I was inexplicably switched over to a gentleman.

I had pretty much the same thing happen as others here with that number. Got an automated message from a female voice saying she was from some sort of 'Medical Alert' company. She asked if I could hear her too, but it was obvious it was just a recorded scam, so I just hung up straight away.

I received an unsolicited call from a number that definitely shouldn’t have been dialled. The caller was purporting to be from some sort of medical company, insisting that those over the age of 70 could obtain a device to wear-a sort of emergency button, they said. A nicely spoken lady called me, very polite at first, but kept pushing this 'free Medic-alert' thing non-stop. I just ended up hanging up. Seems like they’re aiming at older people to try and trick them. Since I’m a carer, I’m pretty wary about where they got my number from - feels like they’re definitely picking who they call, not just ringing randomly.

It seems there’s a bit of a worrying trend here, where older folks are being approached with misleading health information. They’re being urged to wear a tag for emergencies in case they happen to stumble or fall. It’s all coming from some sort of automated voice, which is rather concerning. One can't help but wonder if these tactics are putting undue pressure on vulnerable individuals.
