Got a call from some scammy number, was pretty obvious they were just trying to fool me.

This number came up on my phone and it showed up as a possible scam call. Definitely looked dodgy to me. Wouldn’t recommend answering it.

My phone buzzed and it popped up with 'suspected spam' or something, rang a few times, then just stopped. Didn’t even bother answering, went straight to block and trash.

This caller said they were from an energy provider company.

Just like the others, it was the usual "can you hear me?" I actually replied this time but it honestly seemed like no one was on the other end. Got me wondering if they were secretly recording my voice or something. Anyway, I’ve blocked this number with my 'last caller barring' now.

I've switched off my voicemail 'cause I've had three calls in just 15 minutes! It's always scammers ringing up. Luckily, I’ve got caller ID, so I just don’t pick up. They probably reckon my phone’s not even plugged in!

I got a call on my landline and when I picked up, the person said 'Good morning, can you hear me alright?' I didn’t say anything back, just hung up straight away. It’s been the same voice calling me a few times in the last couple of weeks. Definitely a scam.

So this person rings me up and asks if I can hear them alright, then quickly goes on about some energy monitoring business. The minute they said that, I just held the phone next to the radio so they could have a good listen. Honestly, why on Earth would an energy firm with a Blackpool area code be calling me all the way over here in Leicestershire?

For the past few days, I've been getting calls where a voice says “can you hear me,” and while it sounds really realistic, I reckon it's likely AI. It's quite something how lifelike it is though.

Like what others have said, it’s pretty frustrating, even if it’s not a scam but a legit business. Can’t imagine they actually get much of a response nowadays though? Still, I guess if they manage to catch one or two interested people a day, it makes it worth their while.

My phone flagged it as a spam call, so I just ignored it.
