Not too long back, we found ourselves in a bit of a pickle with a car crash. We reached out to our insurance company to sort out compensation, but honestly, these folks seem like nothing more than opportunistic ambulance chasers. It's quite concerning how they managed to get hold of our details; one can only assume the insurance company sold our information to them.

I had a similar experience. Tried to respond to a call, but the line went silent and now it shows up as "unknown number" whenever I ring back. Quite peculiar, really.

My elderly mother, who’s in her eighties, received a nuisance call at midday today. It’s worth noting that he hasn’t been behind the wheel for more than a year. Thankfully, he had the good judgement to end the call. She's signed up for BT's phone preference service, yet these callers still managed to get through. We'll definitely be taking this matter up with BT.

Received a call from these folks, and I needed to pinpoint the date of our mishap. Strangely, I also got a text with the exact same request. Curious which local constabulary decided to pass on our details!

Received a call from this number at half five today, inquiring about an accident. It was obviously a pre-recorded message, as soon as we caught wind of the word 'accident,' we hung up right away. Goodness knows, we haven't had an accident in over sixteen years!

I recently received a phone call from this number, but just as I answered, the line disconnected. Unfortunately, when I tried to return the call, I was informed that it was an unknown number. According to the information on this site, it appears that the individual who rang us may be violating numerous regulations. Since we are registered with the Telephone Preference Service, it’s perplexing how they obtained information about an accident we never disclosed. This raises serious concerns about the legality of their data acquisition, potentially infringing upon both the Data Protection Act and the Computer Misuse Act.

We noticed this number pop up on our call history while we were out recently. The number 01252 678333 tried to reach us on 6th July at precisely 4:57 PM, but it didn’t leave any message on our voicemail, which is usually activated. Even when we’re at home, we tend not to pick up calls unless we recognise the number. Cheers to everyone who has shared their insights; we’ve gained a bit more understanding regarding who might have been on the other end. By the way, I looked into the area code, and it appears that 01252 corresponds to Aldershot.

This number seems to be just like the others mentioned here. They left a voicemail on my landline but didn’t bother to call back. I’ll be notifying BT about this, given that I’m meant to be on the TPS list and shouldn’t be receiving these unsolicited calls. Quite frustrated with this situation!

I recently received a similar call that prompted me to press two to speak with an advisor. To say we hung up would be an understatement!

We recently received a call claiming that due to some accident we were involved in, we may be due some compensation. It all seems rather dodgy to me. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Cheers, Len! We just checked out the government’s website and reached out to the fraud team. Unfortunately, they weren’t much help since we haven’t actually fallen victim to any scam. They wouldn't even take the phone number for further investigation, which was a bit frustrating. All we got from them was a contact number for Consumer Direct: 08454040506.

Just like hilary1951 mentioned, this number rang just after 5 o'clock. By the time we got to the phone, the line had gone silent. I called 1471 and got this number, but when I tried to reach it, it came up as unknown. Even the third option for a callback doesn’t seem to function. A huge thanks to everyone for your insights - they’ve been incredibly useful!
