I got a call from someone with a non-European accent saying my PC was infected and had reached out to them, warning it was at risk. They said it was critical to fix it fast to protect my data. When I told them I don’t even own a computer, the line went dead. Strangely, the caller ID showed a local number when checked with 1471, but the voice’s accent was clearly from a different time zone. Definitely a scam, but the ‘local’ number trick is new to me, plus the idea that my computer called them in trouble - that really threw me off.
