Somebody rang up pretending to be from my bank’s security, but they never actually told me which bank they were with. They said there were two big charges on my card but didn’t say which card either. Then they asked me to press some buttons to either say yes or no about those transactions. Seems dodgy to me.

I got a call off a woman who sounded Asian, she said she was calling from BT and asked me about spam calls. She said she wanted to start some call blocking thing but then asked for the expiry date on my credit card to “confirm” who I was. I told her I wasn’t giving that info and she got really annoyed, even said she’d block my BT calls! The funny part is, I don’t even have BT as my phone provider.

I got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming she was from BT. She started asking about spam calls and said she could set up a call blocking service for me. But then she asked for my credit card expiry date to 'confirm' who I was. I told her there was no way I was giving that info, and she got really annoyed, even threatened to block my BT calls. The funny thing is, I don't even have a BT account!

Got a call from an Asian lady asking for me, so I gave her the name Eddie Lejeune. Then she kept asking if I was actually (my real name). I said no, my name’s Jacques Cousteau. She then asked if I knew who I was, I said no. Next she wanted to know if I could speak for myself. I told her I couldn’t because I had a nasty, painful genital wart that hurt when I ran. In the end, she said it’d be good if I could talk for myself since my Amazon account was apparently up for renewal. That’s when I just hung up.

Got a call from a woman with a really strong Indian accent saying she was calling from BT, saying there were problems with my internet connection. I wasn’t about to admit I was online using the internet just fine when she rang. Plus, the number showing on my phone definitely didn’t look like anything BT-related. I was pretty sure it was a scam from the start, so after a bit I just ended the call.

Got a call from some bloke with a weird accent claiming to be from Amazon. He told me someone had put an order for an iPhone on my account without my permission, costing £699. Then he asked if he could connect to my computer remotely through some site called www.anydesk.com to sort it out. I told him I wasn’t having any of it and figured it was a scam. After that, he started yelling and cursing at me, which I thought was really harsh. It's a shame because there are plenty of genuine Amazon staff out there who wouldn’t behave like that.

Got a call from some bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be from Amazon, telling me there was a dodgy order for an iPhone on my account for £699. He wanted me to let him access my computer through www.anydesk.com to fix it. I told him I wasn’t falling for it and that I suspected it was a scam. He then got all aggressive, yelling and using bad language. Feels really unfair to the genuine Amazon staff who actually do their jobs properly.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from security saying I’d bought an iPhone through Amazon Prime for £875. They asked if I wanted to cancel because they couldn’t complete the order. Then they said I needed to provide my Amazon Prime info to get the phone. I told them if they were really Amazon, they’d already have my details. Then, oddly, they just cut me off. FYI, I’m not an Amazon Prime member and never ordered an iPhone.

BEWARE OF SCAMS! If you get dodgy calls or texts, make sure you report them straight to the police fraud site. Just search for 'action fraud' and head over to the 'police.uk' page. Find the section to report phishing, read everything carefully, and then add all the info about the scam, including any links or web addresses you have. You don’t need to sign up or give personal details unless you've actually lost cash. The only way the police can keep track of these scams is if everyone reports them, so don’t ignore it!
