I got a call just yesterday and then again today from someone speaking a foreign language, claiming there are issues with my router.

It's utterly infuriating that these con artists persist with their nonsense. It's quite disappointing that our government, law enforcement, and even the internet service providers seem to turn a blind eye to these rogues.

Some bloke called himself 'David' sayin’ there was an issue with my PC. Told me to switch it on and wanted my IP address. Had a South Asian accent and there was a lot of noise in the background. He asked me to do stuff on the computer but I just ignored it and hung up. He tried ringing a few more times but I ended the call straight away.

Got a call from someone pretending to be from BT internet, sounded like a South Asian bloke from some packed call centre. Told him I'd ring the cops and he just laughed it off. Why on earth can’t they sort this mess out? Loads of folks, especially the elderly, are getting scammed left and right. It’s just ridiculous.

I've got caller ID, so if I’m free I STILL don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t recognise, or if the number’s blocked, private, or overseas like this one was. Most of the time, about 95%, they don’t even bother leaving a message. This call was no different!

Like many folks have mentioned, this caller claimed there were problems with my BT broadband. However, things took a turn for the worse when I pointed out that my number is on the TPS register, making his call illegal. He started hurling insults at me, calling me all sorts, including a "complete prat" and even worse. Talk about a waste of both our time!

It appears they’re attempting to obtain your bank information with the intent of moving funds elsewhere. I've informed the authorities and have taken the precaution of altering all my banking details. I even went into my bank personally to report the account information I received from the individual of Asian descent. Please disregard anything they claim-it's all dubious.

Absolute scam from BT! Just had a call from them claiming there was an issue with my IP address. Got a call from an Asian bloke saying he was with BT security, warning me my phone line was being hacked from overseas. I could hear loads of background noise like a call centre. When I told him I didn’t have BT broadband, he said they keep an eye on all internet on their system. Then when I asked for my name, he said he couldn’t see it so didn’t know. Seems pretty obvious it’s a scam.

I've received a barrage of calls from this number, each one claiming to be from BT Openreach. They informed me of some alleged issues with my router and wanted me to perform various checks. Today, a chap named Kevin Turner rang me up, insisting I needed to do specific tests and follow his instructions to the letter. When I started to question his authority, he got quite worked up, raising his voice and becoming very defensive. I assured him that there was no issue, to which he rather impolitely retorted, “How would you know?” I expressed my disbelief in his claims of being from Openreach and mentioned that I would be reporting his conduct. I didn’t even mention that I’m not a BT customer! I've now blocked the number. Just a heads up for everyone!

I typically shun picking up calls that appear to be from abroad, but I was anticipating one today. To my surprise, it was an Asian gentleman insisting he was from BT, claiming there was a fault that could take a couple of days to resolve. When I expressed my difficulty in comprehending him, he offered to pass me to his supervisor-but alas, the supervisor was just as hard to decipher. He requested that I press Control and the R key together. A box popped up on my screen, and he began dictating various letters for me to enter. I hurriedly jotted down the URL www.teamviea... but ultimately told him I was terminating the conversation.

Got a call from an Asian man saying he was from BT’s tech support, with loads of background chatter like a busy office. He told me there was a lot of dodgy activity coming from my router saying my IP had been nicked and someone over in the States was using it to get my private info. Rang me up around half past one this afternoon. An Asian chap claimed to be from BT, inquiring whether I was subscribed to their broadband. I responded by saying I’d be reporting his number to the fraud hotline and promptly terminated the call. The din in the background was obviously not right; it sounded more akin to a bustling pub somewhere in the heart of Mumbai than a legitimate call centre.

I had an unnerving experience earlier when I got a phone call from a woman identifying herself as Shirley, claiming to be from BT. She asserted that there was some sort of compromise with our internet connection and insisted that it was of utmost importance for me to check my router straightaway. She then wanted me to sit down at my laptop for her to guide me through several steps to fix the so-called issue. When I picked up the call, there was a rather long pause before the person on the other end finally spoke up. She claimed to be from BT and informed me that my internet was supposedly being used by someone else. Naturally, I requested her name, and to my surprise, she abruptly hung up. That pretty much confirms it - definitely a scam!

Got a call today from someone telling me to go on Google and enter an address, claiming someone from California was using my IP. I didn’t follow through and asked for their number, but they refused to give it. I ended the call and dialled 1471, and that’s when I found out the number. Looks like a total scam to me.

Got a call claiming my BT internet router had a virus, but when I asked who it was, they just dropped the call after saying I’m not with BT.

Like a few others, someone called my job number claiming to be from BT, checking on my internet. Had an Asian accent and you could hear a busy call centre in the background. When I told him he’d got the wrong number and asked who he wanted, he just hung up.

Received a call today just shy of 10 in the morning. There was nobody on the other end. Just another bothersome interruption, albeit from what looks to be a legitimate landline number at first glance. Thank goodness we opted against returning the call...

Got a dodgy call from someone saying my computer was hacked. I told him my son, who’s got a MSc in IT, handles all the security stuff. He just hung up straight away.

Sounds like what others have said before. The bloke spoke with an Asian accent and was going on about the internet being hacked or something. I asked him what info he actually had on me, and then he wanted me to open a Google page. I just said "No thanks" and ended the call.

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be from BT. There was loads of noise in the background and he kept asking if I was someone else, like three times. Told him I was busy and he suddenly got really rude and hung up on me.

I received a call from someone purporting to be from BT Openreach, stating there was an issue with my internet access point. They somehow convinced me to allow remote access to my laptop.

It appears to merely be an automated farewell response.

Around 09:57 this morning I got a quiet call then a recorded voice popped up, saying "Goodbye" with a British accent. Then the line just went dead.

I got a call from this number claiming to be from BT and they asked for my computer info. Pretty obvious scam, sounded like a woman with an Indian accent on the line.

I've had the pleasure of receiving calls from this number while at the office, and each time I pick up, I’m greeted by a robotic voice that simply utters 'goodbye.' It's absolutely infuriating!

Same as the last couple of comments, I got a call from a lady with an asian accent claiming she was ringing from BT. She kept saying our computer had been hacked and she had to get access to sort it out, and said if we didn’t let her in our internet would be cut off by tomorrow. I just ended the call straight away.

I received an automated call that abruptly ended after just ten seconds. Following that, I got several calls from someone who insisted they were from BT and mentioned an issue with my router. Quite peculiar, isn’t it?

Today, we received a rather alarming phone call from a chap claiming to be a BT engineer by the name of Kevin Parker. He insisted that our internet was being misused in the small hours, which raised my eyebrows. This so-called engineer, identified by the number BT 11121, had the audacity to know our surname and mentioned that he operated out of a location on Media Street, London, EC1A 7AJ. He requested I fire up my laptop and enter the word 'configure.' It felt decidedly off, so we decided to end the conversation after asking a few questions. The more he insisted he was legitimate, the more my suspicions grew. He even rang us back, but my husband was having none of it and told him to email us instead. We took a look at the address he provided, and while it was indeed near BT's offices in London, we discovered it was actually Newgate Street, not Media Street. Quite the dodgy situation, I must say!

Got a call off some asian bloke named “Harry” claiming he was from BT. Said someone in California had broken into my internet through the IP. Told him I was a BT engineer and asked which department he was with. The call just dropped after that. Definitely a scam.

About a week ago i put a block on this number, it started with 00144 then the rest was 01251478521. But this time they got round the block by using just 01251478521 without the 00144 bit. We’re with BT and honestly, with all the tech they have, you’d think by now they’d be sorting out these annoying and risky calls.

they rang me and hung up the moment i picked up. seems like one of those scam calls using an automated system. imma just block the number. i’m with the others who’ve said the same thing, these calls should be stopped by now. switched from talk talk a while ago but still get these annoying calls, just not as often currently.

I got a call earlier from a bloke claiming to be from Sky, said someone had been using my broadband at odd hours. He was an Asian fella and told me to tap some keys on my keyboard. When I told him it sounded like a scam, he just started shouting a whole lot of nasty words at me down the phone.

Got a call from someone with a strong Asian accent saying they were from TalkTalk, warning me that my IP address was hacked. They told me to press the Windows and R keys together. When they asked what showed up, I said it spelled out "gandu gandu." He just laughed, said "ha ha, that’s your name then," and hung up on me. Turns out "gandu" is a Hindi insult kinda like calling someone a muppet, which definitely ruffled his feathers.
