The caller claimed there had been two questionable attempts to make purchases of £1100 and £300 on my Amazon account. They prompted me to press 1 to approve the transactions or 2 if I wanted to chat with someone. In a bit of a fluster, I hit 2, but a sense of unease soon set in. After uttering “Hello” a couple of times, I realised it wasn’t a pre-recorded message since the person on the other end responded.
