authentic call from a life support service - normally it's started by a smoke alarm or an emergency button being pressed, totally safe and should be treated with care since it connects straight to emergency services, unless obviously they dialled the wrong number.

legit call, yeah. it's one of those red button firms ringing up to say your neighbour or grandma's had a fall and needs help. naturally, i figured it was a scam and just ignored it until i heard the poor lady shouting for help next door! dumb mistake - i hadn’t saved the number on my new landline phone. just so you know, my missus helped the old lady up and wrapped a cardigan ‘round her while i heated some soup for her. now the three of us are all a bit shaken up!

They ring up responders (you'll be aware if yer one) or family members to make sure the client is alright, check if they need help or if it's just a false alarm.

this sounds like a legit call [unless they messed up and called the wrong number]. if you get ringed by this, it’s probably because they’ve got your number listed as a contact for someone who has a panic alarm pendant. when the person presses the panic button, it alerts the call centre, and they start ringing the ‘first responders’. you’d be on that list, so keep in mind you’re one of the people they contact first, second, or third and so on. usually, only a few people are on there, and you should be aware if you’re likely to get called.
