I received a call from a chap with a rather amusing name, Fuk Yew Daf Cun, who was keen on selling me some enormous prawn crackers. Naturally, I wasn’t inclined to partake in that offer. Shortly after, another call came through from a gentleman of Pakistani descent, attempting to entice me with offers of wooden furniture from his workshop. When I inquired about his name, he introduced himself as Ahmed Ashed. Quite the peculiar day, I must say!
