Got a call from some chat bot scam. I kept asking why they were ringing a number on the TPS list, but it just kept playing the same pre-recorded messages. Felt like they were trying to get info for fraud, asking for my name, how to spell it, my address, age group and even another mobile number. No change in the script when I kept telling it "you're a scammer". The voice sounds really real - definitely aimed at older people, pretending it’s about checking loft insulation from some Warm Homes Scheme that’s apparently rubbish. Best to just block and ignore.

If you do answer, they add your number to a list for a real person to ring back or even sell it on. NEVER give out any personal details to strangers calling you!

ABSOLUTELY SHADY SCAM ALERT! I just received a call that rang once, and the moment I didn’t engage, the automated voice disconnected. It’s clearly a bot call, trying to identify live voices. If you happen to say “hello” or any other greeting, they’ll mark your number as ‘active’ and you'll end up hearing from some crafty swindler later on! They might feign innocence, claiming they’re merely seeking opinions or conducting surveys. Please be cautious-these are nothing but SCAMS and can be quite bothersome. If you’re unsure, ask them to send you a written communication, but NEVER disclose your address. A genuine caller should already have that information. And if an unfamiliar number pops up on your screen-DON’T SPEAK FIRST; just stay silent. If you sit in silence and the call ends, congratulations! You’ve dodged a potential scam! Hats off to you!

When I told her I couldn't make out what she was saying, she ended the call. The number showed as Bangor and she spoke with an English accent. This sort of scam has been going on for quite a while now, popping up from loads of different numbers. I've gone ahead and blocked it.
