Got a call on my landline from 01248509035. This robotic English lady said there was a £600 debit card transaction made abroad. She told me to press one key to confirm, or another to speak to an agent or deny it. Total scam, loads of people have reported the exact same thing.

Got a call from 01248509035, and it was one of those pre-recorded messages about some overseas credit card charge. They told me to press 1, which is classic of these scams, just like many others have mentioned here. I wasn’t around when it rang, but honestly, I wouldn’t have pressed 1 even if I was because it seemed really dodgy and not legit at all.

I missed the call from 01248509035 as I wasnt home, but from what I've heard, it’s one of those common scams about overseas charges on your credit card telling you to press 1. It definitely doesn’t feel legit to me, and even if I was around, I wouldnt dare press any button like that. Sounds just like the usual fishy stuff people keep warning about.

This was such an obvious rip-off, couldn’t be more basic if they tried.

Got a voicemail saying I should call back that number or my credit card would be blocked. Pretty clear it was just a scam.

01248 509035 called me too, it was one of those automated messages saying £600 was spent on my card overseas and to press 1 if I wanted to talk to an agent. I didn’t press anything, seemed dodgy to me. Still, it’s so frustrating how often these kind of calls just won’t stop. I’ve reported it over to Action Fraud as well.

Just like others here, I got that message about £600 being pulled from my account for a trip overseas. Total scam, no doubt about it, but I can see how it might really frighten older folks or those who aren’t tech-savvy. I ended up cutting the call straight away.

I've been getting these calls from automated voices, always a different number but same robotic message about some unauthorised charge on my debit card. I block each number as soon as they ring, yet the very next day, another one pops up with the identical prerecorded warning. It's pretty frustrating!

Got a call from 01248 509036 saying there was a £600 charge on my card from overseas. They told me to press a button to confirm or my debit card would get blocked. I didn’t press a thing and just ended the call. Be careful with that number!

Got this automated call saying my debit card was being used overseas for a £600 purchase. They gave me two choices: press 1 to confirm the transaction or 2 to speak to their “helpline”. They didn’t mention which bank or card, so it was clear a scam. Still, I can see how it might scare older or less tech-savvy people.
7 years
I got the same prerecorded message others have mentioned here. It felt a bit off - my bank would never call about dodgy activity using a robotic voice, right? So, I just hung up straightaway, thinking it was a con. I worry some older or vulnerable folks might fall for this though.

Got a voicemail that kicked off right in the middle of a sentence, saying there was a transaction over £600 on my debit card sent abroad, and that my card might get blocked unless I replied or something. I just ended the call and looked up the number, which led me straight to this site. Definitely a scam trying to trick me.

Just like others have said, this number is dodgy. They pretend to be from a bank, saying there’s a £600 transaction on your card and threaten to block it. Then they tell you to press a button to speak to them. It’s so dangerous, especially for elderly folks. This rubbish needs to be shut down fast.

Got a dodgy call about my bank card. Some recorded voice going on about weird charges overseas, said £600 was spent. They started the message halfway through, which made it seem like I missed the bank’s info at the start. Of course, it ended with the usual "Press 1 to speak." Honestly, if you’re not careful it’s proper scary. What a bunch of scammers.

This was super sketchy and really easy to fall for. Money got taken from our account and sent to China. My partner had just ordered something off Amazon that came from around that place. They asked for cash transfers and access to his computer, saying it was to protect the funds. They’ve kept phoning to try and get into the computer, but now they’re calling from another number, 02921282944. The calls are still coming from the Bangor area in Wales. Watch out for this one!

Got a weird call from an automated voice sounding like a woman saying something about an overseas issue and my card possibly being declined. It told me to press 1 or 2 to speak with some “Investigation Team.” From what I’ve heard, these voices are easy to buy online and can ring hundreds of phones at once. Looks like a total scam that someone can run just from their laptop at home. I’m in Wales and have gotten this call like half a dozen times in the last few weeks, but thankfully I can just block the number every time it pops up.

For more than a week now, these scammers have been ringing my 97-year-old mate daily, claiming £600 was taken off his Visa card. It sounds pretty real 'cos you can hear noise like in a busy office in the background. I reckon it’s just a pre-recorded message while some crook sits in their room, happily conning the elderly. Luckily, my friend waited until I came over to mention it before making any move. Funny enough, they phoned while I was there, and I picked up. As soon as I started grilling them, they just hung up straight away.

I got a recorded call from 01248509035, sounds like one of those scam calls. I’d had a similar one a while back. Funny thing is, a few hours after the call, I used my card with no problems at all, which pretty much proved it was a con.

On 11th Dec 2019, I got a call from 01248509035. The message cut off halfway, but I caught something about a transaction being sent abroad. Got a call about my bank card being compromised. If you hit 2, you get a real person on the line pretending to be from the bank. I just pretended to follow their instructions like I was checking my account on the computer. Kept them chatting for about 20 minutes while I sorted out some lunch, then they finally gave up. That half hour they wasted with me was time they couldn’t annoy anyone else, and I still got stuff done!

Got a call saying there was a £600 payment from my credit card to some overseas bank. They told me to press 2 to cancel it or press 1 to approve. But I didn’t press anything at all.

Got a message saying if I didn’t call back my card would stop working. It was just some recorded voice.

Beware of a dodgy scammers number claiming it’s Visa, then they pass you onto 02086385306, which they say is Barclays fraud team. Don’t be fooled, it’s all a con even if they speak really convincingly!

Got a robo call saying I needed to press 1 to confirm £600 was sent abroad, or else they’d block my card. Sounded dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be the fraud department, said there was an overpayment problem and wanted my bank info to fix it. Total scam!

Came back home and saw a voicemail saying my debit card had been charged abroad, asked me to press 1 to confirm or 2 to reach fraud team. I rang all my banks to check and found nothing wrong. Pretty sure this was just a scam trying to trick me.

Got a call from this number about some £600 debit card payment I hadn’t made. It was a recorded voice, so I just hung up straight away. Checked online and found loads of folks have had the same thing, so I’ve blocked the number now!

(This number is flagged and blocked by BT for anyone using BT Call Protect) From what I’ve seen here, every report points to this being linked to bank scams, which is pretty serious. If you’ve fallen victim to their tricks, you should definitely report it to the police through Action Fraud. Otherwise, the ICO should be informed too. These scammers really need to be stopped, no messing about. Just so you know, BT itself blocks this number if you have BT Call Protect enabled.

Got a message saying my debit card would be frozen if I didn’t get in touch - total scam alert! They keep trying to make you ring back, but just don’t fall for it. Seriously, when did all banks start coming from Bangor, North Wales? It’s a nightmare, my phone’s always going to voicemail now, trying to avoid these dodgy calls. Those scammers are proper pests.

Just got a voicemail claiming there was suspicious use of my card, said £600 had been spent overseas. I called off straight away and looked at my bank details - no way, it's a total scam! Same story as everyone else here.

Got a call with a recorded voice claiming I’d spent £600 on my card overseas. It asked me to press 1 for more details! Sounded so real, I just hope nobody gets tricked by this.

I got a call saying my card was declined because of a payment overseas, sounded a bit dodgy to me. Probably some kind of scam trying to trick people into giving their info. Watch out for that one!

Got a voicemail saying £600 was spent abroad on my debit card and to press 1 if I wanted to fix it. I've had similar calls about my Visa card from various numbers over the past few months. It’s pretty scary, especially for folks who aren’t aware of these scams and might easily get caught out.

Got a voicemail saying there’d been some sort of issue with my debit card overseas, but they never said who they were or what company was calling. Felt a bit sketchy since there was no proper intro or anything.

Got a robo call claiming it was from some Fraud Investigation Unit about my debit card. Said my card was going to be blocked because of a strange payment from abroad for £600. They told me to press 1 if I wanted to chat with their team. Seemed fishy to me.

I got a robotic call that just kept threatening to block my card or something, but to be honest, I have no clue what card they were even talking about. Needless to say, I just ignored it and probably will continue to do so.

Got a text like the others saying £600 had been spent on my debit card abroad. They warned my card would be blocked if I didn’t reply. Didn’t even mention which card they meant. Definitely a scam!

Just like a few of the others here, the only bit I caught was something about my card possibly being declined. I’m always careful and come here to verify stuff before replying, and I’m really happy I did this time. Great job, keep it going!

Got the same recorded message again, and it’s obviously a scam, so I just hung up straight away. Funny thing is, I’d just arranged for £600 to be transferred into my current account from somewhere else, so I thought I’d ring the bank just to confirm everything was safe and nothing dodgy had gone on. Pure coincidence both things happened at the same time.

I got a call about my account needing some sort of check for £600 withdrawal or something like that. Left me a message, but honestly, it was total nonsense.

Something similar happened to me, about £600 was mysteriously taken from my debit card and then sent overseas.

Got hit by the exact same trick - £600 vanished from my debit card and sent overseas. Please don't answer, as it's likely they’ll infect your computer with malware. Absolute scoundrels these folks are!!
