10 yearsThis number kept ringing up, asking for my missus. The bloke on the other end refused to tell me anything, hiding behind data protection rules. He said he was from “resume finance” in Manchester, but the call came through on my partner’s mobile. After an argument trying to find out what it was about, he just shut up and wouldn’t speak with me anymore, so I told him to jog on. At first, I thought it might be her work calling since it came from a Chesterfield landline. Then he rang again, giving a different name and saying he was in Manchester. We had another proper shouting match and I warned him if it happened again I’d report him to Ofcom. So I rang him back with my number hidden and guess what? Some “financial services” person answered, so I hung up straight away. Tried calling once more and some other bloke said he was from “money help services” trying to push bankruptcy solicitors onto people. But I own my home outright and don’t owe a penny, so why would I need that rubbish? Cold calling is illegal and Ofcom have recently fined a lot of companies, even a big satellite company, for doing this. Looks like they’ll have more fines coming their way.
