10 yearsI recently received an unsolicited call from this number, asking for my partner. The chap on the other end refused to discuss anything with me, citing the Data Protection Act as his excuse. Initially, he mentioned something about "Resume Finance" from Manchester; the call was made to my partner's mobile. After a heated exchange where I pressed him for details, he still wouldn’t engage, so I politely told him to leave me alone. At first, I assumed it was a work-related matter since the call originated from a Chesterfield number. He persisted, calling back with a different name and claiming to be from Manchester. After another fiery confrontation, I warned him that I’d be reporting this to Ofcom if they continued. I then decided to ring back the number, dialling without my caller ID visible, and lo and behold, I was greeted with "Hello, this is Financial Services." I promptly hung up. I tried again and got a different individual, who introduced himself as part of "Money Help Services," all attempting to persuade unsuspecting individuals to hand over cash under the guise of legal assistance for bankruptcy issues. Since I own my home outright and don’t take out loans, I have no need for such nonsense. Cold calling is illegal, and Ofcom has already slapped hefty fines on numerous companies, including some associated with satellite TV, for engaging in these practices. It seems more fines are on the horizon.
