At about 8.50 this morning, I got a call from an Asian man and then he rang again at 9.07, telling me there was something wrong with my internet. I ended up blocking the number on my phone because it felt like a total scam. I don’t get why we bother with the BT telephone preference service when these dodgy calls keep coming through anyway!

I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be associated with BT. They insisted there were security concerns with my computer and various devices. I decided to cut the conversation short and hung up. Oddly enough, they tried their luck again about an hour later, but I chose to ignore it that time.

Like loads of others here, I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from BT. He claimed my internet was about to be disconnected and needed me to sit at my PC so he could fix it. He actually had my phone number and postcode and said he could see I was paying for the service. I wasn’t about to fall for the pressure. He kept asking if I had a computer, laptop or iPhone, and I told him I didn’t own any. Funny enough, he hung up straight away. Pure scam, no doubt about it!

Got a call earlier claiming there was some hack on BT and wanted my IP and internet details. I said I’m not with BT, but they insisted BT supplies all other providers. Mentioned I wasn’t the homeowner, and then this guy says my mum and dad must be proud of me for dealing with it (I'm 24, lol). Asked for their name, a ref number and a way to contact them - call just ended on me.

I keep putting this number on my block list, but it seems like they’re always one step ahead, changing the last digit and coming at me from a different angle. Honestly, it’s utterly pointless as I’m not even with BT, so their calls are completely irrelevant to me. It's quite infuriating! I've had my share of rather suspicious phone calls lately, particularly from a chap with an Indian accent claiming to represent BT. He warned me about impending internet disconnection due to some so-called security concerns, which frankly set off a few alarm bells for me. I firmly stated that I don't entertain calls from strangers and would investigate the issue independently. To my surprise, he hung up rather abruptly! Just got a call again from the same number claiming to be about my BT broadband (which I don’t even use). I let them talk for a bit, and they said someone is trying to hack into my account and they need to “secure” it by getting access to my computer. Yeah right! They threatened to cut off my service if I refused. I told them to do their worst since I barely use it anyway (haha). Got a call from some guy with an Asian accent saying my internet had junk messing it up and it’d stop working if I didn’t clean it. I said I’m in IT (which I’m not) and have it covered. He kept pushing, so I told him I looked up his number and it’s not on any list. Then I flipped it on him and asked if he needed my login info. He said no, so I asked what’s the point of calling then if he’s not gonna get access. He got all nervous and said he’d call back tomorrow before hanging up. Can’t wait to hear from him again.

She said she was calling from "DC communications" which I reckon was her mispronunciation of "BT Communications". She told me there was an issue with my internet. I received a rather dodgy call from an Indian gentleman purporting to be part of the BT customer service team. The line was dreadful, full of crackles and static. I politely challenged his identity, explaining that I highly doubted he was genuinely with BT, and warned him that I'd lodge a complaint if he dared to ring me again. In response, he let loose a tirade of abuse, telling me to “Go and screw yourself, you absolute muppet!” Charming, isn’t he? So on 23/08/18 around 11.10 in the morning, this posh sounding person just said bye then hung up. But I've had loads of calls from a woman with an Asian accent warning me my internet would be cut off at midnight if I didn’t follow her instructions. I told her I’m with Virgin, she insisted it’s the same as BT, which it isn’t, and then she just whistled into the phone and ended the call. Such a weird experience!

Got a call from a bloke claiming he worked for BT, sounded Asian. He was quite polite and kept at it, so I just played along, went and got my laptop and all that. He warned me the internet would cut out in half an hour if I didn’t log in, so I faked doing it and then told him I wasn’t going to get scammed. They’ve apparently got a whole team looking into these calls now, and if you want to complain, that’s the department you need to get in touch with.
