On the 1st of August 2024, a lady named Emily rang me from 01245953888. She set up an appointment for an engineer, Andy, to come round. Even though I told Emily my panels had a mid-term service done last year, they still sent Andy over. Thankfully, after the visit, it turned out there was no issue at all.

I received a call from a company named IES, claiming they were affiliated with my insurance provider, regarding my 25-year warranty. They mentioned they wanted to pop by today for their complimentary inspection linked to the warranty. I told them it wasn’t a suitable time and that I’d call them back later. However, the insurance company had previously informed me that these checks were neither required nor planned. Strangely, the caller seemed to have access to my personal information.

Got a call from someone called Robin at Infinity Solar Systems, asking when they could come round to check my solar panels. I just said "No thanks, never," and told them I’d get in touch if I ever need it. I don’t bother with unexpected calls or doorstep offers anyway.

I received a rather curious phone call earlier. The caller claimed that my solar panels were still under a 25-year warranty and that the original installation team had outsourced them to verify their functionality. They were keen to arrange a call for today, but I told them it would have to wait until Monday at the soonest. They agreed to follow up then. I can’t shake the feeling that this might be a scam; after all, why would the company that installed them need third parties to check up on their own work? I’ve decided to play along when they ring back next week-it could buy some time and deter them from attempting to deceive anyone else in the meantime.

This number rang me about my solar panels, saying they needed to check my meter for safety and proper function. They claimed they’d inform my warranty after the inspection. Thing is, I don’t even have a warranty, but I’m pretty sure their real aim was to pitch me one. I ended up telling them to buzz off. Pretty sneaky tactic if you ask me.

Someone rang up saying they were from a solar panel firm and wanted to check my system under warranty. I found it fishy because they used my current last name, which I only changed after the panels were fitted. The lady said I'd get a follow-up call with the inspector’s name and when he'd turn up. Of course, no call came back and the number’s now dead. Definitely a con. I've reported it to Action Fraud.

Got a call from a woman insisting she was from "infinite energy solutions" saying because I supposedly have solar panels, they were allowed to ring me up. That’s not right at all, and I’m definitely on the TPS. She was really persistent and didn’t want to take no for an answer. Got a call on 30th April 2024 from someone saying they were from Infinite Energy Solutions. They wanted to do a ‘free’ mid-term check of my solar panels, saying it would be a quick 20-minute job checking the inverter and the generation meter. I have a Solar Edge setup with monitoring already, so I’m well aware of my panels’ status. Felt a bit dodgy to me. I’ve blocked the number now and wouldn’t bother with them.

Yesterday morning, I got a call on my landline from this number. The caller didn’t clearly say which company they were from, but mentioned they operated out of Colchester. They already knew my name and that I have solar panels installed at home. They then claimed there was some urgent info: my “supplier had recently gone into administration.” I was pretty wary by then and ended up hanging up on them. Looking back, it really feels like a dodgy cold call, probably just a clumsy attempt to catch my interest for who knows what reason.

Yesterday I got two calls from the same number. I ended the first call in the afternoon, didn’t really want to talk. Then they called again around 7:25 in the evening. I received a call from a company named IES, and when I inquired about what that acronym stood for, the representative, Gracie, informed me it meant 'Infinite Energy Solutions.' She mentioned my solar panel system was due for an inspection under the manufacturer's warranty, which apparently covers this sort of service - news to me! I asked her for a callback number to consider my options and she provided 01206 679955, which did match the contact number on their website (although I can't seem to locate that website now, and this was just a week ago!). Anyway, I rang the number and arranged for them to get back to me, with the promise of a call a day prior to let me know which engineer would be coming out. I did mention that I couldn't promise my wife would be there to 'authorise' anything, as I suspect that's often just a ploy for a sales pitch. To my astonishment, there was neither a phone call nor a sight of an engineer! I decided to share a warning on Nextdoor, and someone responded saying they'd received the same cold call. They requested written details via email and haven't heard back since. This really seems to be some sort of scam; it’s unfortunate I couldn't get to the bottom of it. Additionally, I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, and when I sent in a complaint about the call, they responded that they couldn’t trace the company, suggesting it might well be non-existent!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Steve Smith about servicing my solar panels. Apparently, they handle warranty work now because my first installer went bust and they've somehow got hold of their client list. I'm on the TPS list, my installer is still operational, and the warranty ran out ages ago. Sounds like a typical scam to drum up unnecessary jobs and probably hard-sell one of those Solar Edge gadgets that won’t actually save me money on a well-set system. I've reported them to the ICO already.

Just a quick update from my previous post. I looked up Infinite Energy Solutions and found a contact number: 01206 679955. When I called, a very polite lady answered and confirmed that 01245 938888 is indeed their call centre number. I told her about the annoying calls I’d been getting, mentioning that I don’t even have any solar panels. She apologised and promised to take my number off their list. We’ll see if they stick to that or not.

They called saying they wanted to do maintenance on my solar panels. I was like, what? They kept insisting I had a 25 year warranty on them. I told them no, I don’t have any such guarantee. They seemed confused and asked again if I was sure. I said yes, I don’t even own solar panels.

Got a call about a solar panel safety inspection the other day, and I’m pretty sure it was a scam. The person claimed the firm that did my panels had closed down, and that they’d taken over all their customers. But when I asked which company I had originally used, they couldn’t give me a name. Definitely suspicious.

Got a call about some solar panels supposedly fitted at my place. The lady said the firm that put them in had shut down. When I asked for the company's name, she couldn’t be specific, said there were loads of subcontractors tied to the one that folded. I wanted to know how she got my number, and she said her company had taken over all the old contracts. I told her she was talking rubbish because I don’t even have solar panels installed!

Definately a dodgy solar panel scam. They kept ringing me up, pushing this “free safety check” that they said was overdue and wanting to set up a visit. I asked when the last check was done, thinking they’d have that info to prove it was actually late, but the bloke just stuttered, “That’s not really my place to say...” Honestly, block this number if you can. It’s beyond me how this kind of harassment isn’t illegal yet. I’d hate to imagine what would happen if these shady folks ever got onto your property - I’m sure a “safety problem” would pop up real quick.

Got a call yesterday but I didn't pick up, and she left no voicemail. Then she rang again today, tried the same old solar panel scam. I told her our panels were fine and we could check them on our own, then asked her nicely to stop bothering us. She just ended the call after that.

When I answered the call, there was a bunch of noise in the background, like people talking and laughing. Suddenly, a phone went off somewhere. Then a woman shouted, “Is that a mouse or a rat?” and someone else said, “Definitely a rat!” I haven’t got a clue what the call was about, but if that’s the kind of place they work in, full of rats, I wouldn’t trust buying anything from them!

My phone showed the number as 'Spam / Possible Scam'. The caller was silent at first, but when I told them to 'Say something or buzz off!', they just cut the call... Another annoying pest sorted out.

Got another call about solar panel maintenance today. I told them once more to stop ringing me and put them on the blocked list. This keeps popping up every few weeks, really annoying.

I usually just ignore calls from unknown numbers. But when I’m curious, I look them up on this site, and it’s been really handy.

Sounds like a total rip off to me.

Got a call from 01245953888 but didn’t recognise it, so I just let it ring out. Decided to block the number after that.

They asserted they would handle the warranty for my solar panels when they took over from the original installers and even scheduled a visit to check everything out. However, they never showed up. I attempted to call them, but the line doesn’t seem to connect. Unfortunately, the name of the company has slipped my mind.

Got a call from someone asking my wife if she owned a place we moved out of a whole year ago. Instantly put their number on block, no chance.

This number has been ringing me non stop, like 5 calls in one day! Definitely some sort of scam going on here. Honestly, they ought to be taken to court for this.

Oh no, not this again! Such a pain in the neck.

I've received numerous calls from this number, and it feels like I'm being interrupted by a bustling call centre. Most of the time, it seems like they're engrossed in their own chatter, and the moment I try to contribute to the conversation, they hang up on me. I've decided to lodge a complaint with the Telephone Preference Service since they really ought not to be making unsolicited calls.

Got a call about solar panels for a place I lived at like 15 years back! Sounds like some call centre job. I've gone ahead and blocked that number now 🚫

They’ve been phoning me almost daily now, feels a bit iffy to be honest.

This lot kept ringing me on 7th Nov 2023 around 4.15pm, then twice more just yesterday. No matter how many times I tell them to stop calling, they just don’t take the hint. They’re some dodgy company trying to mess about with your solar panels. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust them at all - feels like a scam and they’re pretty sketchy. They’ll just keep pestering you nonstop. Seriously, don’t let these folk near your solar setup.

Got another call today from the same company saying my solar panels had a 25-year warranty and that they were operating nearby and wanted to inspect my setup. Complete rubbish if you ask me. I told them I’d already done some digging and was sure they were con artists. Asked them nicely to stop ringing me. This happened on 6/11/23 around 5:10pm.

I got a call at 1:43pm on 6th November 2023. The person knew my name and asked if I was the one they were trying to reach. When I said yes, they just ended the call straight away. I've received several calls about getting my solar panels checked, but honestly, I'd never trust some random caller or cowboy to touch them. From what I’ve seen, they’re probably more likely to cause problems and then charge you for fixing things that weren’t broken before.

I wasn’t sure who it was so I just let it ring. After seeing these comments, I’m relieved I ignored it!

Received a call regarding solar panels from a rather boisterous call centre. They seemed to have my name and postcode on file, which was a bit disconcerting. I opted not to engage in conversation and swiftly blocked the number.

This sounds just like the usual solar panel con, nothing new here. How much can a technician really tell in a quick 20 minute check? If the inverter isn’t working properly, it’s gotta be running hotter - energy doesn’t just disappear. There’s no way they have time to get up on the roof with a light meter to measure sun strength, then do the maths on the electricity output versus what it was meant to be when the panels were new - even if that info is easy to find!

For over a week, I kept getting calls and ignored them, but I accidentally answered one. Turns out they’re trying to scam you about some free maintenance for your solar panels. Don’t fall for it like I did, they’re just a pain and want to take your cash!

Got a call earlier today from someone claiming they handle all the big solar panel suppliers and have now taken on the yearly servicing that came with my system. I told the bloke straight up that I don’t bother with firms that talk rubbish just to make a sale. I even mentioned I used to work for the company that fitted my panels (which is true) and that no manufacturer throws in a free yearly check-up when you buy the panels.

I thought I heard the distant wails of a child over the din of background noise, and then, out of the blue, the line went dead. I've since added them to my blocked list, though I wouldn’t be surprised if they give me a ring from a different number soon-it's typical behaviour for these sorts of callers.

Proper rude scammer, honestly.

I'm receiving a barrage of calls, including some that are eerily quiet. There’s this rather shifty-sounding woman on the other end who gives me the heebie-jeebies. Quite a suspicious character, if you ask me!

Got a call from Infinite Energy Solutions, they wanted to arrange for an engineer to come inspect my solar panels. They booked me in for today, but also asked if I was living alone. I had a quick browse of their website and it seemed legit enough. So I decided to dig a bit deeper and checked Companies House. Turns out, this company actually dissolved back in 2014 and isn’t trading anymore. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

This number has called me several times, claiming I need to schedule an inspection for my solar panels. Each time I asked them to provide the specific government rules they’re working from, they just dodged the questions and ended the call. Feels like a complete con to me. Definitely recommend blocking them.
