Just got a call about paying off some insurance for a TV, but I don’t even own one! Totally confused.

This number kept ringing my mum over and over. The bloke on the phone was asking about her TV licence, which was strange because she’d just got the yearly bill not long ago. He told her to get in touch with her bank. Then he rang a few more times after that. When I checked, mum said she gave her date of birth but didn’t think she shared any bank details, maybe just mentioned she banks with Halifax. She called Halifax herself and they said it all sounded a bit dodgy. I reckon the caller was trying to fish out her personal info.

This number rang my mum, saying they needed to check her bank info. Then they tried pushing a TV insurance deal, claiming they could drop the price from £300 down to £159 right over the phone. Mum doesn't even have TV insurance! Pretty sure it’s some kind of scam, watch out!

Someone claiming to be Mr Reed kept ringing my old dad loads of times, telling him that the service contract for his washing machine, fridge, or freezer was about to finish and that he needed to pay the last bit right away. Luckily, my dad didn’t share any personal info. When I tried to ring the number back, it just put me on hold with some music playing the whole time. I’m pretty sure it’s some sort of scam trying to swipe bank details from people.
