While waiting on hold, I rang the number back and got a voicemail from “Digital Services Solutions”. Looks like it’s a sneaky sales call pretending to be the gas supplier. Best to just ignore it.

Went through my old emails this morning trying to clear out the junk. Came across one from Anne Sutton with the number 01245790839, dated 14th April 2023 - that’s about six months back. The name seemed familiar, so I looked it up here, even though I never got a call from them. The email said it was from Norton and mentioned charging £129.99 for a yearly subscription renewal or something like that.

I haven’t actually rung this number myself, nor has it called me, but it keeps popping up in scam emails I’ve got recently. The emails usually claim stuff like unauthorised transactions on a Santandar account or sneaky renewals charging 3129.99 for things like Norton Life Lock or a Geeks PC and Network Security Plan. I’ve had roughly ten of these dodgy messages, all sent from various GMail accounts, and they seem to be hiding behind Nord VPN.

Got an email that said it was confirming a payment for some kind of subscription, telling me to ring them up - totally a scam! Subscriber number was something like DR-954-8294-5622131 Item was called Geeks PC and Network Security Plan Paid by direct debit Cost was £129.99

I phoned them out of curiosity, and they immediately asked to access my computer remotely. The guy spoke with a strong Indian accent. Then he asked for a subscribers ID, which I just made up. After that, he claimed he could look up the number on his system. Complete nonsense, total scam.

I just received an email supposedly from someone called Riley Kelly, but it came from a really sketchy Gmail account. The message said something like: "Hello, xxx Thanks for renewing your yearly subscription with us! Your subscription ended yesterday, but since you have auto-renew enabled, it’s been renewed without a hitch. Your account has been charged £129.99 which should show on your statement soon. This charge is set to repeat every year on April 13th, 2024 unless you cancel the auto-renew or dispute the charge within 24 hours. Need help? Ring us at +44 1245 79 0839 (Toll Free)" They even included a subscriber ID and other info, probably trying to make it look legit. It definitely felt dodgy to me.

I got emails about some supposed subscription renewal that were totally fake. Be careful, it's not a normal refund scam where you get money back. Instead, they trick you into logging into your online bank and somehow end up controlling your computer! Don't fall for it!

Just a heads up, you might want to double check with your bank to make sure no unexpected payments have been set up without your knowledge. I got a message saying my Norton PC Care subscription was renewed on the 8th April 2023 without me realising. Apparently, they’ve restored all my computer and network services and it’s all set to keep going until I cancel, which would be by 7th April 2024. They mentioned that an annual fee of £149.99 has been taken from my account credits, and I should see this on my bank statement soon. They also said this subscription is on auto-renew each year and to contact them within two working days if I want to cancel. Seems like a scam to me. They don't even use my actual name, just call me “subscriber.” The whole message felt really unprofessional.

I got an email from a sketchy free Gmail account pretending it was Norton, saying they’d charged me for some subscription. Never heard of them before, so I just ignored it and left my security software to handle it. This one actually looked quite legit compared to the usual rubbish, but like a real Norton bill, it didn’t say which card they supposedly charged - because obviously, they don’t know. Feels like a trap, hoping people will ring the number on there, which could be anywhere in the world. If you’re silly enough to call +44 1245 79 0839, they’ll likely try to trick you into giving personal info and then wipe your accounts. Proper risky if you ask me.

01245 790839 - Scam Alert - received an email claiming to be from Norton about a suspicious charge of £129.99 supposedly taken from 'account funds'. This is actually the fourth email like this I've gotten, all from different senders but with the same story. The big red flag is the number being labelled as 'toll free' and warning that the payment would be taken on the 5th - but today’s the 6th! Honestly, I wish these scammers spent as much effort on honest work as they do trying to con folks like this!

Received a dodgy email claiming my Norton subscription had expired. They said my renewal was processed automatically for £129.99 and that the next payment would come out in April next year unless I cancelled a couple of days before. The message sounded a bit off, especially with the timing and vague phrases. They included a customer service number (+44 1245 79 0839) in case I wanted to cancel or needed help, signed by someone called Lola Rowley from ‘Senior Head Accounts Handling Team’. Definitely feels like a sneaky spam trying to pull a fast one. Just a heads up to watch out for emails like this!
