It’s rather unsettling, as they often remain silent before uttering phrases like “I’ve heard someone’s had an accident.” On occasion, the line is merely filled with silence and then the unmistakable sound of laughter. It’s consistently the same male voice, sounding distinctly Asian. It’s all very troubling and disconcerting for her.

I questioned where he’d gotten my details, and he said from the claims department. Thankfully, our phone has this Call Guardian thing that screens calls before we pick up. Loads of numbers, like this one, ring us but as soon as we ask who they are before answering, they just drop the call. If you’ve got an elderly family member or someone who might be easily bothered by dodgy calls, definitely think about getting a Call Guardian phone - it really cuts down the annoying calls and makes the house a lot more peaceful.

I just got a call from this number, some guy with an Asian accent talking about an accident. When I told him to stop calling me and to remove me from their list, he told me to "go f..k myself" or something like that. I ended the call feeling really shaky and angry. It’s ridiculous that these types can ring up unlisted numbers like that.

I struggled to make sense of the conversation-there was a thick accent, presumably Indian. They asserted they were calling from the meter department of British Gas. They had all our company details, including the full name and address, yet their insistence on obtaining our meter number was puzzling, claiming some sort of technical glitch. I decided not to divulge any information.

Got a call from someone speaking Dutch or maybe Asian, the line was really crackly so I could barely catch what they said. Then this person mentioned something about reducing our bills but ended the call straight away. Strange!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from some "Accident Investigation Department" about a tiny car crash supposedly from the past two years. He was pretty vague and couldn't give any details. I told him straight up that it sounded like a fishing scam. When I pressed him on who he was working for, he said it was the Ministry of Justice. But as soon as I mentioned I’d verify it, he hung up saying it would be illegal to do so! Total rubbish if you ask me.

On the 22nd of November 2016, I got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent, loads of background noise and the connection was pretty sketchy, probably a VoIP line routing through the UK. He said he was ringing from some “meter reading company” or whatever the exact name was, but with the noise and his accent it was hard to catch exactly. He rattled off the postcode, company address, all info that’s publicly available anyway. Don’t really get what they’re trying to do with these calls, seems like the topic keeps changing. Bit suspicious, if you ask me.

some bloke with an accent called me out of the blue about a car crash i supposedly had and said i was owed 2 grand. total coincidence as i hadn’t been in any accident. when i wouldn’t share my details over the phone, he started threatening me with legal fees and court stuff. it was proper scary, had me all shaken up. how do they get away with this sort of thing? i’m old and quite vulnerable but i kept firm, told him no more info and just ended the call.

I received a call, and I honestly couldn't make out a word from the woman on the other end apart from the fact she mentioned she'd obtained our number from BT, which is odd since we're not even their customers. So, I hung up. Almost immediately, I got another call, but this time it was a bloke who just launched into a string of expletives before he abruptly ended the call. Quite bizarre!
