Many people find this method quite clever but it’s nothing more than an attempt to get you worried or confused.

Even though the number looked like it was from the UK, it was actually coming from a call centre somewhere in Asia. They claimed I'd placed an order for an 'Applee i-pad' through my Amazon account and asked if I was familiar with a Mr David Williams from Manchester, as he supposedly made the purchase using my details. Quite a different spin on the usual scam, really. They even had my full name and address including the postcode. I just told them I didn’t want this so-called Applee i-pad and ended the call.
