11 yearsI totally got caught out by this one. Needed a loan badly and was pretty desperate, so when they rang I was over the moon. Paid an upfront fee of £105 thinking it was all sorted. A couple of days later I asked to cancel since no money came through. They told me it failed because it wasn’t secured and I’d have to pay another £105 to secure it. I refused and still wanted to cancel. Then they said they’d refund me £80 after charging a cancellation fee, which I accepted. Before I got that money back, they phoned again saying they’d cover £150. They planned to send me £100, for me to send back to them, while the company would cover the other £50. That’s when I should’ve realised it was dodgy, but I still went along. After sending the cash as they asked (went to the post office and everything), they stopped answering calls and ignored my messages. Lost £105 in the end, but honestly, it’s a bit laughable how obvious it was. Caller name?
