This was a bit strange. I made a travel money order through FairFX, and since it was more than £2000, they needed to verify some details. They rang me from a number I didn’t recognise - something like 0124572300. Luckily they left a voicemail saying it was FairFX and I also got an email to confirm.

I’m giving 4 stars because the call was genuine, but it was weird that it came from a random phone number.

So, Card One Banking rang me up out of the blue asking if I wanted to know about different account options. Then, barely two days later, a Card One debit card turned up at my door - no credit check or anything, which seemed odd. When I called them back, they said it’s an account with a £12 monthly fee and crazy high interest rates, way worse than any interest I’d normally earn, which is practically nothing anyway. Bit of a weird experience!

Got two calls from this place asking for my personal info, which I didn’t hand over. They claimed I’d applied for an online account with them, but that’s not true at all. Since I wouldn’t share anything, they rang back trying the same thing again. Watch out for this!

They rang me up but were after somebody who’s not me.

They said it was cardonebanking calling. I guess I must have put in an application for either a business or personal current account. Looks like the call is just to complete the setup of the account.

Got a call from someone legit, said they were from CardOne Banking/Acorn Accounts. They asked me to confirm some security details so they could check who I was, and told me I could cancel my application if I didn't want to go ahead. Apparently, the system calls automatically and the advisors can't stop it unless GDPR stuff gets sorted out first. Someone on the line explained all this to me.

I thought Card One Banking was local, so I signed up with them, but it turns out they're not nearby at all. I've clearly told them I’m not interested anymore, yet they've phoned me loads - over 15 times on my mobile - and now they're calling from this new number too. They're way too pushy, it honestly makes me question if they're actually a proper bank. If they are, why are they pestering me so much?
