I’ve fallen victim to a scam, and it’s really quite infuriating. As someone just getting my business off the ground, this situation is incredibly disheartening.

Exercise extreme caution! It’s advisable never to agree to any inquiries from this number or any related ones, such as 07340837674 or 07724557516. They’re on a mission to peddle advertising slots for the Flintshire Fire Brigade and seem to habitually alter the so-called agreement they have with them. They’ll relentlessly try to coax you into saying 'yes' to absolutely anything they ask. Be aware that they operate under names like All Saints Associates and Community Guardian, so keep your wits about you. The caller identifies himself as Barry.

Today, on the 22nd of December 2015, I had a rather dubious phone conversation with a chap named Noel. He was touting an ‘exclusive’ opportunity for my business to reach the serving and retired officers of Greater Manchester through a half-page advertisement in the Police Lifestyle UK magazine. The price tag? An eye-watering £145 plus VAT. However, it became glaringly clear that this was merely a sales pitch, rather than an actual service contract. Noel was rather coy about where he was calling from, even when I directly asked him, and he insinuated that I could become a preferred supplier for police personnel needing assistance with their home improvements. Later on, a colleague of his contacted me to process the payment, asserting that I had somehow entered into a verbal agreement that bound me to pay, come what may. This person also mentioned that I would receive the artwork for the ad in a week’s time. After digging into the situation, I’ve decided to pass on this offer. I highly encourage anyone who comes across this to share their experiences, as awareness could prevent others from falling victim to these tactics. The caller was Noel.

I appreciate all the comments posted here. Please be cautious!!!!!! On Thursday, 2nd December 2015, I received a call from a chap named Noel who claimed to be from Leicestershire Police (he reassured me that there was nothing to fret about). It turned out to be a sales pitch for a promotional package on their website, which he had extracted from one of my online profiles. The following day, another caller, who introduced himself as Robson, contacted me to discuss a fee of £145 plus VAT that needed to be settled immediately (he insisted on my credit card information, but alas, I didn’t have it at hand). They claimed this package had already been secured and was non-refundable, pressuring me to pay the discounted price of £145 plus VAT within 48 hours. Both gentlemen gathered my email and postal address but strangely, I never received any correspondence. This raised my suspicions. Thankfully, I had a moment of clarity and decided to look up the phone number just now, and I'm incredibly relieved to have avoided falling prey to these con artists who dare to impersonate Leicestershire Police. I plan to visit the station first thing in the morning to lodge a report. I sincerely hope no one else gets caught in their net… take care, Sam.

Cheers for all the insights shared below... A word of caution, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Thursday, 2nd December 2015, a chap named Noel rang me up, claiming to be from the Leicestershire Police (he reassured me that there was "nothing to fret about"). He presented it as an advertising pitch for a business portal, having obtained my details from one of my online profiles. The next day, another fellow by the name of Robson got in touch, demanding an immediate payment of £145 plus VAT. He insisted on my credit card details, which I, unfortunately, didn’t have to hand. What’s more, he claimed that the package had already been booked and was non-refundable, pressing me to cough up the discounted fee of £145 plus VAT within a mere 48 hours. They both noted down my email and physical address, yet I received no communication from them. My suspicions were on high alert. Thankfully, I had the presence of mind to check this number just now and I can honestly say I feel like I've dodged a bullet from these crafty scamsters who dared impersonate the Leicestershire Police. I intend to pay a visit to the Police first thing tomorrow to file a report. Let’s hope no one else falls prey to their deceit...Sam - callers: NOEL AND ROBSON
