Got a call about whether I'd ever claimed PPI. The lady on the phone was quite friendly and polite, but once I said I hadn’t got anything linked to PPI, she said sorry for ringing and ended the call. I’ve put the number on my block list now.

I just got a new phone with the latest Android, and it actually flagged this call as “likely spam” while it was still ringing. Honestly, I was quite impressed by that feature. Without a doubt, I hit “block number” straight away and then looked it up here. Really happy I blocked it - my phone warned me just in time before I picked up!

I got a call telling me I was owed PPI, but I told them I never took any loans or anything like that so there’s nothing to claim. I politely asked them to remove my number from their list, but the woman was pretty disrespectful and kept saying I didn’t get it, trying to get my info. I didn’t give it, getting more annoyed, and told her I’ve got kids to look after and I wasn’t interested. When I asked again nicely not to call me, she actually said I was being rude to her, which was just ridiculous.

I pick up every call like this. I dont say a word, dont even really listen, just get the phone and then put it back down straight away. They usually stop talkin efter around half a minute and hang up. They try ringin again, so I do the same thing on each call. After 5 or 6 goes they finally give up. It doesent cost me a penny and it makes me chuckle. It probably just wastes their folks time and whatever fees they pay for the calls.

I tried to be polite when the woman on the phone wouldn’t accept that I’d already checked my PPI. I kept saying a simple ‘no thanks’ but she just ended the call right away. Not even a goodbye or anything. Bit rude if you ask me. Totally unnecessary.

I usually dont pick up numbers I dont recongnise, if its important they will leave a voicemail or try other ways to get in touch. Best to just block these calls and dont call them back as it could be some rip off trying to make you pay for ringing them back. Now they even use 0800 numbers on our landlines which is annoyin especially since ours is ex-directory. Im really grateful for sites like this and the option to block these nuisance calls on both my phone and landline. Just block em!

If you're already signed up with the TPS, make sure to report any live calls to the ICO, and for silent or abandoned ringers, pass them on to OFCOM. Spammers couldn’t care less about posts like this but they really freak out when OFCOM or ICO get involved, and it only takes a few minutes to report. Oh, and if you're not on the TPS, you’re just asking for it. Your phone provider couldn’t care less either since they just make money off selling caller ID and boosting their profits through call blocking.
