Received a call earlier today from someone urging me to renew my homeguard insurance, which I initially signed up for back in 2016. When I probed a bit deeper, they claimed they had been withdrawing £55 from my account every three months. I pressed for details on which account and the date of my last payment. I firmly stated that they needed to reimburse me since I hadn't actually requested any coverage. The operator then offered to connect me with a manager, but as luck would have it, the call abruptly ended. I've since used the call blocker app I found on this site (there’s a link at the bottom of the page) to report this number, and it flagged it as a scam. Just a heads up for everyone-stay vigilant!

A well-spoken woman rang my number, requesting to have a word with my wife (using my name). I informed her that my wife was currently away and offered to assist her instead. To my surprise, she then abruptly ended the call.

I received a call regarding some television policy, and the lady was adamant that I signed up for it back in 2016. When I mentioned that I couldn't recall doing so, she began processing things again. I told her I wasn't sure about the amount I had paid, and she claimed it was over £100. Honestly, she seemed unsure herself! I mean, I distinctly remember signing up on the 30th of August 2016-it’s all a bit too surreal, almost like spotting a flock of pink elephants soaring through the sky!

He picked up the phone the first time after one ring, and they told him to fetch a pen and paper, which made him think they were after his bank info, so he hung up. They tried calling twice more but he didn’t pick up those times.

Spoke to a polite young bloke claiming he was from a drainage firm, used to be called Homeguard, asking about our insurance. He said we had no cover, then hung up on me. Bit cheeky if you ask me.

The number 01243 767858 called my elderly dad today claiming to be from a drainage company going over his insurance details. I happened to walk in while he was on the phone and was alarmed to see him holding his bank card and repeating out numbers to them (I cut the call off straight away). Dad says he didn’t actually tell them anything, but they had read out some digits and asked if it was his bank card, and somehow he ended up sharing info about it. This sounds really dodgy to me!

1. Find out how they got hold of your info. 2. Request evidence of your permission for the call. 3. Gather as much info about the firm as possible like their phone number, company name and the name of whoever you talked to. 4. Tell them to erase your details from their records and not to call you anymore. 5. Reach out to the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) on 0303 123 113 with all the details you’ve got, as they probably have breached your personal data.

The so called home guard keeps ringing from different phone numbers asking for bank info and trying to sell some phone protection that we dont even have with them. The last number they called from was 07561060106.

However, if you follow the easy instructions I’ll share next, you can help get them shut down and stop them from bothering others, especially those who might be more vulnerable. Thanks to new data protection laws, you have greater rights now, and the ICO can hand out hefty fines - but only if they’re aware of the problem.

Got a call from this number today. The woman claimed she was from Home Guard and said I had insurance on my TV since 2015. I never did! I remember hearing that Home Guard went bust a while ago. Maybe these scammers got hold of their old phone list? Either way, it’s definitely a scam, steer clear.

Had a call from someone named Chris who said my name and mentioned a 2 year warranty on my TV and box stuff, starting Dec 2015. First year £99, second year free apparently. The number called me a few times in the past couple of days. He asked for my Visa debit card number start and last 4 digits. Told him to call me back which he did, only then I checked my records dating back to that time and found I never paid anything. When I told him that, he just hung up on me.
