This number rang my landline, and because it shared my local area code, I picked up. A recorded voice then told me there had been two attempts to use my card - without saying which bank - totalling £13,000. It asked me to press 2 for more info. I did, but soon got the feeling it was a call centre, so I hung up. Normally I don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t know, especially if the area code looks unfamiliar, but since this was local, I let my guard down. Maybe that’s exactly what they’re counting on!
