If you're using Compare the Market or any other comparison website for insurance, or even the insurer’s own site, I’d recommend putting in a fake phone number if they’re insisting on one. If you don’t, like what happened to me, you’ll get nonstop calls from all the companies giving quotes. Loads just hang up once you pick up, and some just keep ringing even after you’ve told them to stop since you’re not keen on their offer. It feels like proper harassment!

A really nice chap helped me sort out a plan, but funny enough the one he put together was exactly the same as one I’d already picked from their site!
