5 yearsI picked up the call, and the automated voice informed me that I had received a text message. To access it, I was prompted to press a specific key. The number that was calling me turned out to be a landline, so I chose to ignore it. I reckon it's just another spam attempt!5 yearsDidn’t bother to leave a message.6 yearsI received a missed call from this number, but they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail. I’m going to take it as a sign of a potential scam.6 yearsI received a rather dubious call from this number, claiming to represent Virgin. They insisted that my internet speed had been faltering recently due to some alleged spam files lurking on my computer. They instructed me to press the Ctrl and Windows keys, which led me to open Command Run. I had a hunch they were about to provide some dodgy link for me to input. Their spiel was that they’d reveal my supposed spam files for me to remove. I decided to challenge them, asking how on earth they knew about any spam files on my system. To my surprise, they cut the call promptly. Even if it had been a legitimate Virgin communication, they wouldn’t have access to my laptop files-no one does! Clearly, this was a bunch of scammers trying to ensnare me into granting them access to my machine, potentially to install malware for remote control. I recommend telling them where they can go! Just for the sake of it, I quickly checked my broadband speed while on the line, and it was perfectly fine. It’s so easy to verify your broadband speed; just a quick Google search does the trick!VirginGoogleSubmit Your Own Report (01242 505780)
