Loads of these calls keep coming through, and even though I keep blocking the numbers, they just won’t stop. Why do companies keep selling our phone details without asking us? I only pick up if I recognise the caller, but most of the time it’s just random or scam calls showing up. Proper annoying!

I’m constantly bombarded with fake calls about supposed refunds that don’t exist, lottery prizes, lonely heart scams, and fake tax agents with strange accents that are hard to understand. Plus there’s timeshare offers as well. So these days, I just don’t pick up unless I know the number. Reading through this thread just confirmed my gut feeling that ignoring unknown calls is the safest bet. Any promise of easy money should be treated with suspicion. Best to just hang up. About an hour ago, I got a call claiming I’d won a holiday, which I was pretty sure was a load of rubbish. They started asking me loads of questions, most of which I answered kinda vaguely or close enough. When they asked if our combined income was over 35,000, I said I couldn’t really say. That’s when they told me I wasn’t eligible for the holiday if I didn’t answer, so I just ended the call.

Got a call saying I’d won some kinda prize from a contest I supposedly joined online in February. They told me I’d bagged a holiday voucher worth £1000 and asked which place I wanted to go - Tenerife, Orlando, Costa del Sol or Cape Verde. Then they just ended the call.

Some bloke called saying I'd bagged a holiday plus a hotel stay and that I needed to pay £90 upfront, which he'd supposedly give back, before collecting the voucher. I wasn't having any of it and said no, then the call just dropped.

I got a call from a bloke who was really convincing, telling me I'd won a holiday competition I supposedly entered back in January. He rattled off some details and answers he said I'd given, asking me to verify them. He kept going on, "You entered, so just confirm your answers." I told him I thought it was a ploy to get me to cough up some money. He denied it, but I wasn’t having any of it and ended the call. Best to steer clear of these sorts of calls.

First, I got a call from a lady claiming I’d won some kind of prize, but I told her that I hadn’t entered anything. Then another woman jumped on the line saying it was the first day for the first caller and confirmed that I’d supposedly won a competition. She even gave me a website link and insisted I’d entered. I just told them both I wasn’t interested and hung up.

Just got a call on 18 Feb 2020 around 2:34pm, and it seemed like they were trying to control my iPhone remotely, opening apps without my permission - honestly, it felt really sketchy.

I'd seriously advise not calling any of these folks back. I've had loads of dodgy calls from Milton Keynes numbers, all scammers, so I looked them up on this site. Now it's Cheltenham numbers doing the rounds, claiming you've won and need to provide your info to get your prize - total nonsense. Don't waste your time chatting to them, it only makes you a target for more spam. Just block the number and move on!

Got a call from a woman with a foreign accent, she was speaking really quickly so i had to ask her to say the company name like three times to catch what she was saying. It's some kind of travel company she was pushing. I wasn’t interested at all so didn’t let her go on and ended the call.
