They were just being annoying and bothering me nonstop.

01242343004 called me today, and honestly, they were pretty rude and sneaky. They kept pushing for my personal details like which bank I use, my card info, and even loan stuff. They also wanted to know who else lives here and their bank. Definitely felt like a scam trying to get way too much private info.

Me and my partner are both retired and have disabilities. These calls have been coming nonstop, honestly, we've stopped trying to keep track. Usually, they just cut off before we even pick up. Once, I tried calling back but the connection was so bad it was hard to make out much, though I did hear something about PPI. I told them to take our number off their list - and just so you know, our number is ex-directory - but obviously they haven’t bothered to do so. These calls are really getting on our nerves.

Got a call from someone saying he's James, using this number, asking if my bank had given me a refund yet. Told him I hadn’t a clue what he meant. He claimed I’d asked for their assistance. I told him he was talking rubbish and ended the call. Pretty sure this is a scam or some sort of phishing thing.

I got a call on my mobile the other day from someone claiming to follow up if I'd got a refund from my bank (won't say which). I was proper confused and asked them what they meant. They went on to give my name and number, saying I'd emailed them for help on 5th March 2014 around midday. I knew that wasn’t true, so I checked all my emails forwards and backwards, but there was nothing from them. I told them to never ring me again. The troubling bit is that only a handful of people have my number, so how on earth did they get this info?

picked up this number one time, but no one spoke, so i ended the call. since then i've got loads of calls from it, all ignored. looked up the number and it’s linked to supposed bank refunds for an account i’ve never had. apparently, they’ve been involved in other scams too, looks like they’re just hired scammers. definitely adding this to my block list. best to just avoid answering.

This morning, my husband got a call from someone named JAMES. He asked for him, but I had to remind him that my husband’s sight isn’t great and he struggles to hear sometimes. James claimed we were owed a refund from Westminster Bank for PPI. My husband said we never claimed that and mentioned we used TSB before, but that’s not our bank anymore. They said we’d get a form sent by post soon which my husband needs to sign and send back. They’re asking to keep over 33% plus VAT of whatever they get back, and then we might wait anywhere from 16 to 21 weeks for the rest of the refund. How on earth did they get our details - name, address, and phone number? This smells like a dodgy scam or one of those illegal cold calls that are supposed to be banned. I’m really not trusting this as his wife.

Got a call out of the blue from this number, some bloke named James on the line. He knew my husband’s full name, our address and even our landline, which we keep pretty private. Was trying to sort some sort of PPI refund for us supposedly from Westminster Bank. Thing is, we’ve never even had an account with that bank!

After reading through the comments here, it seems like these folks claim to be everything from a bank to a web design firm, or even a PPI refund group or loan company. Definitely sounds like a bunch of scammers to me!

So this number called me, some guy named James was on the phone. I said my husband wouldn’t be back till the end of the month, I told him that on a Friday. Then they rang again on Monday, something about paying back a bank loan or whatever. Bit annoying really.

You can tell he’s been told to call up anyone who might have shown some kind of interest (no idea where that info came from) to try and get business.
