beware of this! i just hung up straight away. I tried to get his name and number and he gave me some clearly fake info! He didn’t even know the phonetic alphabet which was a dead giveaway (definitely no proper phone training). Plus, I could hear someone else in the background giving the same rubbish story to some unlucky person, trying to get them to let them into their computer.

Some nutter called me up trying to get me to put some encryption software on my PC. Honestly, steer clear of that nonsense!

I got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft asking to speak to my husband. I told them he wasn’t here and then they just hung up. This kind of scam is so annoying, does anyone know how to block these calls? Also, I keep hearing about bots but have no idea what they actually are - can someone explain?

definitely a scam. they called saying my PC got hacked and claimed to be from microsoft support and promised to fix it. then they called back asking for payment for some extra security software, saying they'd refund it afterwards. the following day they called again saying a refund cheque was being sent but it was for £1000 minimum and asked me to repay the difference right away. that’s when i got suspicious and contacted microsoft directly who told me that’s not how they operate. dne.

Got a call from someone saying my Windows licence would get suspended unless I fixed my computer right away. They kept insisting I needed to do it or else there'd be trouble.
