This is a classic bank scam, and honestly, I can't believe these scammers are still managing to get away with it. If you’re unaware of this, you must’ve been living in a cave or something. It’s everywhere and everyone’s been warned: NEVER pick up if someone says they're from your bank. Just say you’ll contact your bank directly. Simple as that. Cheers!

I saw the number but didn’t answer cos I didn’t know who it was. Luckily, the caller ID does help a bit. There was no voicemail or any message left either. Since I’m signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a proper call. If it had been genuine, they’d have left a message explaining who they were or why they were ringing.

I just got a call from someone claiming to be from a bank, but the number showed up as American? What’s going on with an American trying to reach me in Cardigan? Definitely felt like a scam to me.

This number actually belongs to a legit family-run business in Cardigan that’s been around since 1959, selling sand and gravel. However, scammers are using it to fake their caller ID - they definitely aren’t calling from Cardigan! This company never makes unsolicited calls, so if you got a call from this number and you weren’t trying to order sand or gravel, it’s not actually them ringing. The real owners have had this line for decades and aren’t involved in any scams.

Got a call claiming to be from my bank’s security team! Turns out, £2700 had vanished from my account in two different payments - one to California, the other to China. They actually asked me for my bank’s sort code! I kept this guy on the line, who spoke with a really strong Indian accent, hoping he wasn’t pulling the same trick on someone else. The call ended pretty rude though - he told me to “go f##k myself you a###hole”. Definitely not how I expected the chat to finish. Watch out for these scammers!

This phone number has been taken over by con artists ever since before Christmas. It’s quite unfortunate, as the number is associated with a small, family-operated business that has been serving our local community for more than six decades.

This phone number is actually registered to a small family business out in West Wales. Unfortunately, scammers have copied our number and are using it to try and trick people into handing over cash. Since last Tuesday, loads of people have been ringing us back after missing calls from this number, curious about who tried to reach them. We've contacted BT but they say there's nothing they can do to stop this fraud. As the business owner, we still have to pick up the phone, hoping it’s a genuine customer calling.
