Got a call from someone named Albert Wilson, claiming to be from Gladstone Brookes, on 22nd July 2020 on my number 44 7783924518. He told me I was owed £1826 from some mis-sold PPI thing, then started pushing a short-term life insurance to cover tax on the payout. The whole story started feeling really dodgy as he talked more. I told him thanks but no thanks, I wasn’t interested. When I ended the call, he actually shouted ‘What?’ down the phone!

I received a phone call from the number mentioned above. The chap on the line addressed me by my name and inquired if I was, indeed, that person. When I pressed him for his identity, he abruptly ended the call. In my view, this seems quite fishy. Just a heads-up to everyone to stay vigilant!

Some bloke called me saying I had a PPI payout of £1826.14 waiting. I asked him to post the cheque and when he asked which bank I used, I told him they should know that from the claim I'd apparently made. Then he said it was a Visa card, which I’ve never had. Next, he got some supervisor on the line and I told her the same thing. She apologised and said they couldn’t send a cheque unless I told them the bank name, but didn’t need the sort code or account number. I wasn’t having any of it, so when I refused, they just hung up.

Hello there! I found myself in a somewhat similar predicament recently. When the chap on the other end claimed I was owed £1800, I couldn’t help but probe a bit further, asking if he could assure me of that sum. Suddenly, he began rambling on about feeling knackered and needing to dash off, saying my payment would be on its way in a few months. Since then, it’s been crickets - not a peep from him! It’s quite concerning, really. One would think that organisations would keep a closer eye on such dubious dealings, but it seems they’re either uninterested or merely content to let unscrupulous behaviour slide.

Got a call from an Asian guy saying my PPI claim from 2016 was ready to be paid. I told him I’ve never made any PPI claim. Then he asked if my dad had done one, saying I might get the money. I said I’d ask but my dad’s been dead for 14 years. He claimed I could still get the money if a claim was made. I said I might ask my mum, but she’s been dead near 10 years. After that, he just hung up. These calls shouldn’t be allowed at all.

A chap rang me up and completely butchered the pronunciation of my name. I pointed out that it would surely upset him if I did the same with his name. Instead of responding rationally, he began to make all sorts of bizarre animal sounds. I told him that his behaviour was bordering on harassment. It escalated from there, and before I knew it, he was making some rather inappropriate noises. I informed him that I would be logging his number and reporting this incident. At that point, he promptly ended the call.
