I usually leave my phone on voicemail to sort real calls from the junk ones! As soon as they heard the message, this caller just hung up - that says everything, honestly.

Got a call from some guy who barely spoke any English, claimed he was from BT and said my broadband would be cut off for 3 days. Asked if I was online so he could get on my computer and fix it? As if I’d ever let that happen. Nope.

This bloke said he was from BT and told me my internet would be cut off for two weeks. I knew it was dodgy straight away, so I replied, "Oh brilliant, someone else from your team said the same thing earlier today. Why haven’t you sorted it yet then?" He just hung up on me.

Today I got a call from a man who spoke with an accent, claiming he was from BT. He said there was a security issue with my internet and told me to restart my computer while he guided me. I told him there was no problem and asked how I could be sure he was really from BT. He got a bit shouty, so I told him I don’t trust random calls about tech stuff. Then he just hung up. Later I looked up the number online and found this website.

Got a call from this number, some woman claiming she was with BT, saying someone was using my internet and I needed to do what she said. I told her I don't even have a computer and people are always trying to scam you nowadays. I mentioned loads of scams come through calls like this! She kept insisting she was legit and got all defensive when I said I'd ring BT direct. Kept repeating she was from BT but I wasn’t convinced.

Someone called saying they were 'Dave' from BT tech support, telling me my laptop was infected and offering to fix it. I kept them talking until I asked for my account number, then they just ended the call. (Funny because I’m not even a BT customer.)

Had a similar experience. I just played along, kept muting the phone while I made a cuppa and pretended to ask what I should type next. Managed to keep her chatting for about 15 minutes before I told her I was taking the mick and called her out for being a scammer. She then started shouting awful stuff at me that I won’t repeat and hung up on me.

That very number rang me around 12.20pm, claiming to be from BT Openreach - saying my computer was infected with a virus, total scam. I told him I didn’t have any problems and he started losing his temper. “Yes you do, switch that bloody computer on and follow my instructions,” he shouted. I gave him a piece of my mind, then he accused me of being racist and threatened to report me to my PM. Go ahead, Mr SCAMMer, I’m ready.

Got a call at 9 in the morning, and all that came through was a woman's voice on a loop just saying "Goodbye". Kinda creepy, to be honest.

Caller said he was “James Wilson from BT,” I told him I didn’t buy that and doubted he worked there. He snapped back, "Have a bloody Christmas," then just hung up. Lovely, right?

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were with BT, said someone was using my internet account. The guy sounded Asian and there was loads of noise in the background, like a busy call centre. Told me they could fix it if I was at my computer. Yeah right, as if!

This number has rang me about 5 times over the last few days, each time saying there's a problem with my computer. They try to sound legit, saying they're from BT, but how many Asian workers does BT really have? I was lucky to look the number up after the first call and realised it was a scam. It's shocking they can keep doing this. You'd expect some official body to shut these scams down when they're so obvious.

Total scam from an Asian number! Never pick up, just block it straight away. They’re also ringing from 01235264789 and 0203 634 9913, so watch out for those too.

This number has rung me up five times over three days, each time with some spiel about a problem with my computer. They claim they're from BT, but seriously, how many Asian employees does BT actually have? The first call felt dodgy, so I looked up the number and quickly found out it was a scam. It's shocking how these prats keep getting away with it. You'd expect some proper authority to put an end to this kind of nonsense when it’s clearly a con.

I got a call on my folks’ landline, thankfully I picked up. The guy was saying my internet was in danger and someone tried to get into my bank accounts. I asked which bank but he said he couldn’t say it was against their rules. I pretended not to know and asked if I could ring back, asking for his name and number. He said John Morris from Newgate Street, London. Told him I noticed his accent sounded Asian and that John Morris wasn’t his real name, then he cut me off right away.

Just like a few others said, I told her I couldn’t get to my computer at the moment. Asked if I could ring her back. She said yeah, gave me the name Erica, staff ID C1328 and a phone number to call, 0206999524, which is actually from Central London, not Abingdon like I expected. Bit strange, really pointless tho.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT, saying my computer’s been hacked and I need to install some software right away or my broadband gets cut off. They gave a name like Yuraj Ehrk - sounded fake as anything. I just played along, told them I haven’t got internet or even a phone, and the call somehow came through my oven! Alternatively, I tried messing with them by pretending to be an automated service: “Hello, you’ve reached the local marmalade tasting hotline, press 1 for sweet, 2 for bitter, or 3 to order more.” They didn’t know what to make of that. Absolutely hilarious way to waste their time!

Got another ring from this number, already chatted with BT about it, they said it’s a big scam going around and I just hung up on them. The bloke on the phone today was quite rude, kept going “You listen here” when I said the background noise sounded too dodgy to be a real BT call centre. He kept pushing me to switch on my computer, claiming it was being misused after midnight. What a load of rubbish. In the end, I told him to go jump in a lake cos he was clearly a scammer.

Got a call earlier from someone with an Asian accent, just like others have said here. He wanted me to hit Ctrl, Windows and R keys. I asked if folks really fall for that nonsense and told him I thought he was talking rubbish. He said I sounded like a ‘crook’. I told him straight up I didn't buy it and he was full of it, then he launched into a tirade calling me every insult you can imagine, including the C word! Honestly, it was kinda funny.

Got a second ring from these lot in just 48 hours. First time, some woman with an Asian accent claimed she was from the phone preference service and wanted to check if I was still getting spam calls. I told her she wasn’t meant to call me in the first place and then I ended the call. Came a call today from some Asian bloke saying my internet service was about to be disconnected. I pushed back, saying BT doesn’t even manage my internet, and he ended up getting rude and called me a b****! No thanks, I quickly hung up.

This number rings me every morning, mostly before 9 o’clock, and it goes straight to voicemail when I pick up. I tried calling back with 141 to hide my number but just got a message saying no such number. Seems like they’re using some kind of number spoofing, maybe from overseas. I’ve reported it to Ofcom and would recommend others do too.

Got a call earlier today from this number, and the person on the other end actually knew my name. They had a bit of an Asian accent, and I could hear some sort of call centre noise in the back - though maybe it was just a recording they were playing. They rambled on about my internet supposedly crashing in two hours, but I couldn’t really catch much of what they were saying, so I just let them go on for a bit before hanging up. I figured it was a scam, and after looking up the number, it definitely is. I'm also getting those silent calls and ones where they just say "goodbye". It’s so frustrating - especially when you’re waiting for an important call and these just waste your time. From now on, I’ll just ignore this number if it pops up again…

Got a call from this number back on 9th December 2016. It was an Asian lady claiming there was a problem with my BT broadband. Thing is, I ditched the phone line at my place like 5 years ago, so this was pretty much a Christmas joke. I called her out for lying and, surprisingly, she just ended the call. What really bugs me though is, if this has been flagged for ages, why haven’t the carriers blocked this number and all the others linked to it? Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Had at least three calls today from a silent line, then a woman just says goodbye and hangs up. Other times they claim they're from BT, telling me there’s something wrong with my internet connection. The thing is, it’s not a BT issue at all. Also, an Asian woman called herself Maria and asked for whoever looks after the internet router. I told her if they’d actually called the right place they’d know who to ask for. When I asked for her number so I could call back, she just ended the call. Really fed up with these annoying calls. He told me scammers are the biggest threat ‘in our country’ and that he’d help me out. I decided to hit back, telling him off for BT not sticking to their promise about fast broadband and giving me Infinity already - I know the truth, but it shut him up for a moment. Then he spouted some nonsense explanation, and I called him out saying I could tell he was clueless and it was obviously a scam. Told him the number was traceable too.
