I usually leave my phone on voicemail to sort real calls from the junk ones! As soon as they heard the message, this caller just hung up - that says everything, honestly.

Got a call from some guy who barely spoke any English, claimed he was from BT and said my broadband would be cut off for 3 days. Asked if I was online so he could get on my computer and fix it? As if I’d ever let that happen. Nope.

This bloke said he was from BT and told me my internet would be cut off for two weeks. I knew it was dodgy straight away, so I replied, "Oh brilliant, someone else from your team said the same thing earlier today. Why haven’t you sorted it yet then?" He just hung up on me.

Today I got a call from a man who spoke with an accent, claiming he was from BT. He said there was a security issue with my internet and told me to restart my computer while he guided me. I told him there was no problem and asked how I could be sure he was really from BT. He got a bit shouty, so I told him I don’t trust random calls about tech stuff. Then he just hung up. Later I looked up the number online and found this website.

Got a call from this number, some woman claiming she was with BT, saying someone was using my internet and I needed to do what she said. I told her I don't even have a computer and people are always trying to scam you nowadays. I mentioned loads of scams come through calls like this! She kept insisting she was legit and got all defensive when I said I'd ring BT direct. Kept repeating she was from BT but I wasn’t convinced.

Someone called saying they were 'Dave' from BT tech support, telling me my laptop was infected and offering to fix it. I kept them talking until I asked for my account number, then they just ended the call. (Funny because I’m not even a BT customer.)

Had a similar experience. I just played along, kept muting the phone while I made a cuppa and pretended to ask what I should type next. Managed to keep her chatting for about 15 minutes before I told her I was taking the mick and called her out for being a scammer. She then started shouting awful stuff at me that I won’t repeat and hung up on me.

That very number rang me around 12.20pm, claiming to be from BT Openreach - saying my computer was infected with a virus, total scam. I told him I didn’t have any problems and he started losing his temper. “Yes you do, switch that bloody computer on and follow my instructions,” he shouted. I gave him a piece of my mind, then he accused me of being racist and threatened to report me to my PM. Go ahead, Mr SCAMMer, I’m ready.

Got a call at 9 in the morning, and all that came through was a woman's voice on a loop just saying "Goodbye". Kinda creepy, to be honest.

I had a comparable experience recently, and much like you, when I requested them to share my name, they didn't get it right either. As soon as I mentioned I would reach out to BT directly, they abruptly ended the call.

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were with BT, said someone was using my internet account. The guy sounded Asian and there was loads of noise in the background, like a busy call centre. Told me they could fix it if I was at my computer. Yeah right, as if!

This number has rang me about 5 times over the last few days, each time saying there's a problem with my computer. They try to sound legit, saying they're from BT, but how many Asian workers does BT really have? I was lucky to look the number up after the first call and realised it was a scam. It's shocking they can keep doing this. You'd expect some official body to shut these scams down when they're so obvious.

Over the past three days, this number has bombarded me with five calls, each one claiming that there's an issue with my computer. They come across quite convincingly, insisting they represent BT, but I can't help but wonder just how many Asian employees BT actually employs? Thankfully, after that initial call, I took the precaution of researching the number and discovered it’s nothing but a scam. It's utterly shocking that these charlatans are allowed to continue their deceitful antics. One would assume that some regulatory body would take action to put an end to such blatant fraud.

I got a call on my folks’ landline, thankfully I picked up. The guy was saying my internet was in danger and someone tried to get into my bank accounts. I asked which bank but he said he couldn’t say it was against their rules. I pretended not to know and asked if I could ring back, asking for his name and number. He said John Morris from Newgate Street, London. Told him I noticed his accent sounded Asian and that John Morris wasn’t his real name, then he cut me off right away.

Just like a few others said, I told her I couldn’t get to my computer at the moment. Asked if I could ring her back. She said yeah, gave me the name Erica, staff ID C1328 and a phone number to call, 0206999524, which is actually from Central London, not Abingdon like I expected. Bit strange, really pointless tho.

I received a rather dubious call claiming to be from BT, insisting that my account had been compromised and that I urgently needed to download some software on my computer, else my broadband service would be terminated. How ludicrous! I decided to play along and gave them a fabricated name like “Reginald Wobblebottom.” When they probed for details, I informed them that I was utterly cut off from the internet and didn't even possess a mobile phone; instead, the call had apparently come through my tumble dryer. Alternatively, I could have responded as an automated system: "Greetings! You’ve reached the illustrious department for recycling used tea bags. Press 1 for collections, 2 for inquiries, and 3 if you’d like to discuss the merits of Earl Grey over English Breakfast." You see where I’m going with this, right?

Got another ring from this number, already chatted with BT about it, they said it’s a big scam going around and I just hung up on them. The bloke on the phone today was quite rude, kept going “You listen here” when I said the background noise sounded too dodgy to be a real BT call centre. He kept pushing me to switch on my computer, claiming it was being misused after midnight. What a load of rubbish. In the end, I told him to go jump in a lake cos he was clearly a scammer.

Got a call earlier from someone with an Asian accent, just like others have said here. He wanted me to hit Ctrl, Windows and R keys. I asked if folks really fall for that nonsense and told him I thought he was talking rubbish. He said I sounded like a ‘crook’. I told him straight up I didn't buy it and he was full of it, then he launched into a tirade calling me every insult you can imagine, including the C word! Honestly, it was kinda funny.

I got a rather puzzling call from a bloke who said his name was Sandy, apparently from BT. He warned me that my Internet was about to be disconnected in a couple of days because of some hacking issues. I thought I'd put him to the test and asked him to verify my name, but he totally missed the mark. I then threw another question his way, and just like that, he ended the call. Quite the dodgy encounter, if you ask me!

I've had a right nuisance with these calls lately! Just yesterday, I received my second call in as many days. The first was from a woman of Asian descent claiming to represent the Telephone Preference Service, insisting she was there to help me eliminate unwanted calls. I told her quite plainly that she'd rung me without any consent, then promptly hung up. Then, to my annoyance, another call came through today-this time, a gentleman of the same background who tried to frighten me by saying my internet would be cut off. When I pushed back on his claims, pointing out that BT has no hand in managing my connection, he turned quite nasty and resorted to foul language, even calling me a b...h! What a charmer, right? I wasted no time in ending that conversation.

This number rings me every morning, mostly before 9 o’clock, and it goes straight to voicemail when I pick up. I tried calling back with 141 to hide my number but just got a message saying no such number. Seems like they’re using some kind of number spoofing, maybe from overseas. I’ve reported it to Ofcom and would recommend others do too.

Today, I received a call from this number, and to my surprise, the caller knew my name. There was an unmistakable Asian accent, and it seemed like there was a call centre noise in the background; though, it’s quite possible he was merely playing a recording. He babbled on about my internet supposedly crashing in two hours, but I struggled to comprehend him fully. I let him prattle on for a bit before I ultimately decided to just hang up. I had a hunch it was a scam, and upon researching the number, it turns out I was right. I frequently get these silent calls or just ones that hang up with a "goodbye," as well. It’s infuriating that nothing seems to be done about these nuisances, particularly when you are waiting for an important call, and they end up wasting your time. From now on, I’ll be sure to ignore that number if it pops up again…

I received a call from this number on the 9th of December, 2016. An Asian woman was claiming there were problems with my BT internet. Quite amusing, really, as I disconnected my landline about five years ago, so that was quite the festive surprise! Naturally, I told her she was fibbing, and she promptly hung up on me. What puzzles me is that, given this number has seen so many complaints, why on earth haven’t the service providers shut it down yet? It makes one ponder!

I'm continually bombarded by these nuisance calls - three came through today alone! The line's silent for a moment, and then a woman chimes in to say goodbye. On other occasions, I've been told this is BT, claiming there’s an issue with my internet connection. Well, I can assure you, my connection is just fine! An Asian woman named Maria was on the line, asking for the person in charge of the internet router. I pointed out that if they were calling, they ought to know who they were after.
