Got a call from someone saying they were from Calgary, Canada, but they never said what company they were with. They asked me about “how we go about pricing construction projects.” I didn’t want to give anything away ’cause I had a feeling they were just trying to push some pointless estimating service that probably wouldn’t even be accurate. Definitely dodged a bullet there.

Received a call inquiring about whether we undertake construction projects. As builders, obviously the response is affirmative, you muppet. He then proceeded to ask how we determine our pricing for jobs. When I probed about his location, he revealed he was ringing from Calgary, Canada. In that instant, I could tell he was from one of those pointless estimating firms that price jobs for construction companies without any real understanding, completely indifferent to the repercussions faced by those companies when the quoted figures turn out to be grossly inaccurate and financially detrimental by project’s end.
