Got a call from this number but didn’t pick up. Right after, I got a message saying they tried calling about my car claim, asking me to ring back so they can sort out the payment for my car. I was in a crash last week and just started the claim process. Usually, any settlement offers come through properly from your insurer or broker, not over the phone like this. Seems a bit dodgy to me.

this one’s a classic! i usually say something like “thanks for ringing, but can i call you back in a moment?” then i put the phone down for about 15 seconds before coming back on and jokingly say, “please hold, your scam call matters to us and we’ll be with you soon.” then i just leave it and go about my business till they hang up.
