got a automated call sayin "this is anglian water with an urgent message for #my name#, if this is #my name# please press 1 now" sounded a bit off so looked up the number here to double check.

best way to handle them is to just go along with it. if they ask stuff, just tell them what they wanna hear. make up the story however you like and see who hangs up first. you gotta be ready to make things up on the spot. for example, say you had a crash like six months ago, and someone hit your car from either side. you never claimed anything cos you didn’t even know you could. if they ask for the other car’s number plate, say you’ve got it written down somewhere. it’s a good trick to deal with those cold calls and come out on top.
