Beware of 01234 430601 - it's a dodgy one linked to washing machine scams.

01234430601 popped up saying something about a washing machine refund. Funny thing is, I haven’t even got one right now. That made me laugh. I don’t usually answer these, but felt like a bit of banter and it actually brightened my day. The lady on the other end seemed quite annoyed when I called her a scammer - bit of fun really. I might have kept chatting if she hadn’t cut me off first. Guess there’s a silver lining to these annoying calls after all.

They claimed there was a refund due, but obviously they were just fishing for card info to try and scam the person.

Got a call supposedly from some Homecare company saying they’d give me back £119 they supposedly took out of my bank in error. They want my bank info to sort it out. Feels like a total rip-off to me.

Got a couple of calls today from different numbers, saying I’m supposed to get £119 back for a Homecare item. They already have my name and both my landline and mobile. It’s annoying they keep using a Bedford area code - why isn’t anyone cracking down on these lot? Might as well have the cops swoop in.

Some scoundrel from India called me, pretending to offer a £119 refund but was really after my bank info. Proper con artist.

My elderly mum got a call saying she was owed £119 for some washing machine insurance refund. We’ve always warned her not to share any details, and this time she was spot on - she shouted right back at the caller! After hanging up, she rang me straight away. I looked up the number and found it was the same dodgy homecare scam a lot of people are talking about. These scams are really nasty!

Got a call from someone claiming I was overcharged for my washing machine like five years back and that I'd get £119 refunded. My washing machine is actually more than 20 years old! I told the bloke straight away that sounded dodgy, and then he just hung up on me.

They called asking for my husband, who passed away over two decades ago. The woman on the phone, calling herself Lucy, kept talking about some kind of warranty, sounded really odd and not local. I just told her and ended the call.

I had a call from someone claiming they wanted to refund me £119 for my washing machine warranty, but they asked for my bank details to send the money. Seems like a complete con to me. Now it turns out my washing machine is definitely not covered. Total rip-off!

Got a call from a woman claiming I could get £190 back from Homecare for some washing machine servicing. Thing is, I’ve never dealt with Homecare before. Got a call from someone saying I'd been owed £119 from Homecare. He wanted me to give my bank info to sort out the refund. I told him I wasn’t comfortable sharing those details on the phone and asked if they could just post me a cheque instead. He replied that cheques weren’t something they did. So, I calmly told him it’s fine to keep the money since it hadn’t gone missing before, and if they ever sent a cheque, great. Then I thanked him and ended the call.

The person on the line had an accent that seemed Asian, probably somewhere overseas like India. They asked to talk to my son, but he’s not lived with me for over ten years. They claimed they needed to give him a refund of £190 from some Homecare service, which was really confusing to me. I told them straight up it sounded like a scam, and then they hung up quite suddenly.

A refund for a washing machine cover? Never happened to me before. I asked her to just put the money back on the card they’d charged since she should have the info. Then she hung up quick and wouldn’t share any details.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from some home care service, saying we were due a refund for being overcharged on a washing machine. Thing is, we haven't bought a new one in like 6 years! When I asked her for a website to check, she suddenly wanted my bank details to send the money. Sounded fishy to me, so I just ended the call quick. Honestly, these kinds of scams are really risky, watch out folks!

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming I was due a refund from Homecare, which I’m certain I haven’t requested! The chap on the other end insisted that I provide my bank information so he could process this nonexistent refund. I firmly told him that I wouldn’t be sharing those details over the phone and suggested he send me a cheque instead. To my surprise, he replied, “We don’t issue cheques.” I politely informed him that he could keep the refund since it was no bother to me-I hadn’t missed the money prior to his call anyway. I gracefully thanked him for his effort and promptly ended the call.

Got a call saying they wanted to refund me for my washing machine coz apparently they took £119 from me back in 2001. I don’t remember that coming out of my bank and also I never had any warranty with them. They asked for my sort code and bank details to send the refund and promised a letter would arrive on Thursday. But the moment I mentioned my son works in a legal firm, they just hung up. Got a call on my landline from a number I didn't know, so I just let it go to answerphone. I've been getting calls from numbers like this quite a bit lately. I figure most landline calls are dodgy these days! As soon as the answerphone started, they hung up. Definitely blocked it!

Got a call about a refund from Homecare saying my mum was charged too much on her washing machine in past years. They refused to give an official address. Totally rubbish, my mum’s never had any Homecare plan and the washing machine’s well over 10 years old anyway.

Got a call from this bloke with an Asian accent claiming he’s from washing machine insurance. He said I was due a refund of £119. I told him thanks but to go scam someone else, and he promptly hung up. Total nonsense, really.

Got a call from 01234430601 claiming to be from a home care service. They said I’d been charged £119 for some washing machine cover, which sounds dodgy. They wanted my bank details like sort code and account number but I refused to give anything out. The guy on the phone was called James. I told him to send me all the info through the post instead. Honestly, I reckon this is a scam trying to get my money.

Got a call from someone claiming to be part of the Home Care Warranty refund team, saying I was owed £119. They already knew my name and where I live, which was a bit worrying. Then they asked for my bank info, email, and even my date of birth. As far as I know, I’ve never bought any kind of warranty!

Sounds like a total scam to me. Some woman called from a loud background, said her name was Catherine, and was trying to tell me about a £119 refund for a warranty I don’t even have. She asked for my address, but as soon as I got suspicious, she hung up. I reckon she was about to ask for my bank info next.

Watch out, this is one of those refund scams. Never share your personal info with them. I got a bit curious and got the company name and an address, but they didn’t line up and didn’t match the area code of the number they rang from. When I asked them nicely to send a cheque through the post for the refund (they already had my name and address by then), they suddenly cancelled it and just hung up on me! The TPS can’t really do much about these calls, but I went ahead and reported it on the Action Fraud site. Stay careful!

Got a call about some washing machine insurance refund, sounded fishy asking for my bank details. I told the bloke I'd call back later. He then gave me a number, 1778758086. I asked where it was from, and he said Central London. I thought that was odd 'cause numbers from Central London don't usually start with a 1. Next thing, he just hung up on me.

I got a call about a refund for my washing machine insurance, said I was owed £129 but then asked for my bank details. I told them I wanted the refund by cheque instead, but they kept pushing for my account info. Do they really think we’re foolhardy? Honestly, it’s about time the government put laws in place to stop this kind of thing, especially since older folks can fall for these scams so easily.
