Got a call about some energy survey, and it sounded like a bloke barely out of training, probably had just started his shift. When I probed him about how he acquired my number, he had the cheek to assert that I’d filled out a survey during the pandemic - which is quite frankly preposterous, as I certainly did no such thing! I requested that he take my number off his list, to which he retorted, “Can you provide me with a solid reason why I should?” and promptly cut the line! Quite infuriating, to say the least!

Just a couple of comments below will tell you exactly how to deal with these scam calls and texts. Loads of people in the UK get hit by these fraudsters daily, but if everyone took the steps I mention, the authorities and government would have no choice but to crack down hard. Don’t expect someone else to sort it out. It’s really quick to do. I’ve bookmarked the 'Action Fraud' website and dropped an email to my MP - got a pretty surprising reply too. But honestly, if only I’m doing it, it won’t make much difference.

I picked up and the caller said they were from Carphone Warehouse and asked how I was doing. I asked if it's alright to ring me outside office hours, and they said no problem, even asked when would be a good time to call back. They were quite nice and didn’t drag out the call. I reckon they’re reaching out because I used to have my old mobile with them and I’m about to hit the 18-month mark, so probably trying to tempt me with an early upgrade again, like they have before, covering any fees to leave my current provider. Just wish they'd leave a voicemail if I can’t answer.
